Has anyone converted there uly to a chain drive? I can't seem to get very many miles out of a belt. I've seen it on other buells but want to know if I can do it to my 07 uly.

You will get even less miles out of a chain and sprockets.

I've seen a few chain Uly's, I know Rotorhead has one.

I'm getting less than 4k on the belts. I've gotten a lot more miles out of My chain driven bikes before they failed I like to use the throtel but it seems like wheelies are really hard on the belts. Any ideas?

You should be getting about 10 times that amount out of a belt, and then swapping it just as a precaution.

How many belts have you gone through? What part numbers are listed on them? Are you installing and removing it per the service manual instructions? Do you have all the belt guards installed? What kind of riding environments do you ride in?

Those that know me know I beat the snot out of my bike when I am not hypermiling, and I haven't had any issues. (Snapped one doing a wheelie by my house 30k miles)

I've busted two in the last six months sence I got the bike I put about 4k on both then they snapped under hard accelleration in first gear. I can't read the part number on the belts they are to faded but I just got the last one from the dealer in January. I didn't put the first one one it came with the bike but I put the next one on right and it didn't last. I ride 90% on road but in lots of rain.

Do some searches and you'll find some good advice on the chain conversions. Allot of trial and error in the older posts. I just spent$60 for a rear sprocket for the next years riding not to shabby I think. Vortex rear sprockets(aluminum) and PBI 277X front(steel) and a quality chain will set you back some. I do allot of unpaved riding that is my reasoning for the chain. I had one one belt break at around 35K miles. the current chain and sprockets have lasted 15K. chain is in great shape but the softer rear sprocket doesn't last to long in hard conditions.

You can piece some stuff together if you look at the EBR site.

If you're getting less than 4k out of your belts consistently...something's wrong. Best to figure out what and fix it before you even consider a conversion. 23k and counting...

I thought all the off road riding and wet weather might be part of it. I think I might need to set my sights on a more off road oriented bike like a KLR. Thanks for all the input.

I was thinking of a chain coverstion myself, but EBR only offers a 520 chain kit with is lite which is good for the track, but would need a stronger chain to last on the street. So going to stick with the belt for now.
