Anyone have any ideas on how to create a mount for an fast lane electronic toll device so as to keep it secure on the bike and in a location that it won't get drenched when riding in the foul weather?

Oh yeah, one more important item. I need it to be seen by the "readers?" as I blow by the tolls.
Appreciate all that is offered.

I leave mine at home.

If you use the search you can find several threads about this.

I would like to leave mine at home, but it is such a pain to have to wait in long toll lines and to have to take off gloves and get money out of pocket.

I know life is tough...wha wha.

I did first go to search, and tried fast lane and easy pass, but I will go back as you have inspired me. Thanks

I keep mine in the map pocket on my tank bag. Stays dry, but someone could walk off with it easily. I suppose the same could happen with the handlebar mounts as well.

I think Froggy means he leaves it at home, they take a picture of his plate as he breezes through the fastlane scanner and contact him, he says "it must not have worked", and it all goes through OK.

At least that's what I think I remember reading in those threads.... : )

If you have a top box.....I have mine stuck to the inside of the lid of my topbox. The "top" is facing forward and the face (the part with the label on it) is facing down. So far it has worked every time. Even if it doesn't work you are OK if you have registered your tag number with FastLane/EZPass, they won't even contact you they just bill it to your account.

Edit: I used a strong 3M double sided tape to attach it, The hook and loop stuff won't hold it against gravity, vibrations and bumps.

I have a suction cup mount, which I stuck to the windshield. Used it for a few years with no problems, until it fell off one time while in traffic. Luckily, I spun around and saved it. I stuck it in my saddle bag facing the top, but it has to be loaded so it won`t fall off. I will use some hook and loop tape in the future. Should work with a not full bag. leaving it home is a good idea too.

Lane split, get around them, and go through the tollbooth right behind someone. Either the EZpass picks up your plate and charges your account, or you get a freebie. I have never in my life cash paid a toll. I did get hit in the head once by one of those gates when that backfired...

Funniest thing I ever saw. I laugh every time I go through that toll.

Just throw it in any of your bags. Mine works no matter where I put it.

Here's what DOESN'T work...velcroing it to a metal mount (TechMount, in my case) on your handlebar. It would never register...I think someone said that mounting the EZ-Pass on metal prevents it from being read. I switched to the suction cup holder attached to my windshield. It's not perfect...the cups sometimes come loose, and with a shaking Uly...

I took the wind screen off and glued mine on the inside. You have to make sure it is above the horn for clearance. If the reader can read through the windshield, it can read through the plastic wind screen. There is a space between the headlight and the bottom of the windscreen, so if it falls off I may loose it? I'll find out tomorrow. That'll my first time out with it.

They make one that's supposed to mount to the front license plate of cars with metallic windshields that block the transponder signal. It's about 2 inches by 6. Zip tie it to your front forks and forget it.

(Except if you've got your bike on a trailer / back of a pickup and you've got another in the cab : ) Then you gotta email them get the double charge reduced to one. I've done that twice - d'oh!)

If there's no service fee associated with the take-picture-bill-account...I may just go the Froggy route (without the headshot, that is).

Anyone know how many tags/vehicles one pass can be associated with? Or do I have to do actual research on their website? lol

When I talked to EZ-Pass about taking off the fines for not having a transponder (by saying that I had one but it didn't read - I was using the one from my car), they said that I should have a separate one for my motorcycle...I think she said it was unique type of transponder for bikes. Whatever. Anyway, my guess is that they'll try to send you (and make you pay for) a transponder for every vehicle. It's worth a try though.

Hm. My mother-in-law has one, and she's registered it for her car and for our truck. We've used it for our Homecoming drives the last couple years...

I had mine stuck to the inside of the top box lid as well.

On the 12R, I just throw it in the little storage compartment under the passenger seat. Works fine.

I can get on the website here with our transit authority and register my license plate number on my EZ pass account. Works with any EZ pass lane that employs cameras which is all of them around here. I would imagine other EZ pass locals have this service.
