Hello friends, I need some help i just bought the air deflector that goes in front of the rear suspension, a friend told me i have to take out the tray to install it, but i was wondering if it can be installed by taking up the rear end and releasing the rear suspension, or any other way that doesn't involve to much taking apart parts.

Thanks

I was able to install mine w/o taking apart the entire rear end. You still have to loosen some of the tray stuff but not remove it completely. You will also have to do a bit of bending and and flexing of the new parts as well as the tray. Just make sure all of the parts are nice and warm so they don't crack! If need be use a hair dryer or heat gun if you have one. Good luck!

I tried to install my first one without removing all the stuff and cracked it.

Others have been able to do it

I pulled the pan but it's not that hard. Just a few more screws to deal with and a little time but the results were worth it. If you don't then by all means make sure they're warm!

I did mine on a ninety degree day in the sun. Do not remove the front ECM bolt, it is unnecessary and damn hard to reinstall once the bottom nut has turned. I removed the metal frame under the ECM, hooked a small ratchet strap in the shock opening on the tray and to the seat latch, and let that hold it back about an inch and a half while I stuffed the new part in.

The only difficult thing was getting all of it's elements started in, and later working the left edge over the rear shock adjuster. It was only doable because it was so warm and everything was so pliable. If in a cooler situation I would not have hesitated to remove the tray(but leave the ECM bolted to it by the front bolt).

If you do have to remove the front ECM bolt the nut can be held with really long curved needle nose pliers or small needle nose vise grips.

On the pipe cover, do not slide it too far up the pipe. The cover and or it's clamp can touch the bottom of the fuel tank/frame under acceleration/deceleration. Makes bad vibrations through the frame.
