Hey All,

I am a 6 foot tall, 330 plus lbs and have not been able to find a decent Mesh jacket for summertime use. I have purchased 3 or 4 over the years and they just don't cut it even when removing the crash pads. Everything is made on another continent! Frank Thomas, First Gear, Tourmaster, none have Mesh that fit even though I have a few leather jackets by the same makers that fit. Whats up with that?

I received a flyer from HD Clothing. Great! Just what I need. HAhahaaaa. It sat around for a week or so before I broke down and looked inside. Low and behold they have a Mesh jacket or two that go as big as 5X. Lots of heavy duty HD riders so one might fit. The local dealer had one in a 3X that fit fine. Only problem was its got a bunch of Orange on it with the 2 inch tall Harley Davidson across the front at shoulder high, not to bad, and this HUGE HD logo on the back embroiderd on. Its like 14 inches wide and 10 inches tall! ERrrrrrrr. The color I can get use to but not being a full blown HD rider and my other two bikes being Zuks, this would not feel right.

So here is a possible fix. Buy one of the 10 inch wide, 4 inch tall Blue Oval Buell Patches and sew it over the HD patch on the back, maybe at a slight angle and one smaller patch over each word on the front shoulders. It would kinda get the message that we are pissed off at HD for pulling the rug and I would also have a functional jacket that fits! AHhahaaaaa. Comments?

Get one of those big FAIL patches to sew over the H-D(spit) patch.

And when you get asked what it means you will have a story to tell.

I think the Buell modus operandi is to focus on the function; riding. If that's the best jacket for the price, as long as it's not hot pink, I'd buy it and go riding. Let the Harley guys worry about 'image'.

just wear an icon safety bib over it, you still get the mesh breath through and no annoying bar and shield

or if you have the eyesight attention span and a seam ripper....

Have you tried Olympia? I'm not sure about their sizing, but their mesh products are some of the best out there.

Check Joe Rocket. If I recall, they make a lot of Harley's riding gear now. I know they made the latest version of the Buell mesh jackets...

if the jacket fits and works for you, then do it. if it bothers you that its HD and you don't want to spend your money with them, then just keep looking.

If you're serious about wearing a mesh jacket and not having the skin grafts after a spill, check out the Ultra II Mesh kevlar jackets and other air - kevlar jackets at: http://www.motoport.com/Home

Great stuff. They keep you cool when it's hot and have the best protection out there.

A good friend of mine (6'3" - 330 lbs.) bought a very nice Tourmaster mesh jacket that fits him perfectly. Look around a little harder and you are bound to find something.

I do love the thought of correcting a Harley jacket though...

Yeah, I've got a similar problem. Bought a very nice HD leather jacket years ago when I got my V-Rod. Now all I have is the Buell, am slightly bitter toward HD, and have always thought that the jacket had too many logos on it to begin with but it is an excellent piece of gear and I got a good deal. Now I would think that you could take it into an alteration shop, but I simply haven't gotten motivated enough to do so.

Hello All,

Well, I bought the damn jacket. It actually did not have the Spit Logo but just a big Harley - on the top line and Davidson below but still in l2 inch tall letters. It fits well so now I guess I will see about the doctoring over patches.. Its more of their sport rider look than cruiser look I guess.

I went by the local Cycle Gear and tried on a 5 X firstgear jacket and it would not even zip up! No Olypia stuff in the store as far as vented jackets that I saw. Joe Rocket 3 X would not even allow my arms in. WOW they run real small.

I looked at the Airmesh on the Motoport site and the price sent me right on by. Must be good stuff for the money.

So I bought the Orange and Black thing. It will have other colors soon I think.

I don't know why I am worried about a vented Jacket anyway, its spose to snow here tonight! HAhahaaaaaaa, DAMN!

I bought a Harley back in December 2006, 6 months after I bought my Buell...I wanted a single-seat cruiser to go with my adventure bike, and the Street Bob looked great. It's been a riot to ride.

About 8 months ago, I peeled all the H-D logo off it, just thinking I was making it look a bit more mysterious. I had no idea that I was saving myself the trouble of doing it post-October 15. I still love the bike, but I like it more now that it's not a rolling advertisement.

I don't mean to be the big pink elephant in the room but.........Uh, maybe a few more salads will help with the size as well as adding many more years of great riding for ya! Don't give in to just being big! Good luck bud!

HAhaaaaaa. I should go on BIGGEST LOOSER to get help! I guess you are right. I only weighed 240 lbs in the ninth grade and I was only 15 years old. That was only 100 lbs and 31 years ago....

I told a guy once who had just spent $8000 on a titanium bolt kit for his bike that saved him 8 lbs of weight that he should have just stopped eating for three days and save the money. Hummmmm? HAhahaaaaa.

I have been giving that a lot of thought by the way. One of my problems with all jackets is that I have a HUGE BARREL CHEST I inherited from my grand mother on my moms side and a great uncle on my dads side! Hahhahaaaaaaa. For real! The belly moves around fine under a tight jacket, its the shoulders and chest where I have the problem. Well thats the way I see it! AHhahaaaaaaa.
