I sent an email to Nightrider.com a while back about using their XIED or IED on the single O2 sensor on the Ulysses. I've used both devices on my Harley with good results, what they do is fool the ecm into thinking the bike is running a little cold and increasing the AFR slightly. In the case of my RK the device cured the lean stumbles, rough idle and made the pull from idle smother. Steve Mullen the developer said in his email that he has designed a single variable IED for use on the 08 and 09 uly with the single O2 sensor. Is anyone using this device???? If so what do you think.

My 2008 thumps away from a stop off idle fine.
Perhaps something minor is wrong with your bike?
Perhaps the muffler valve is sticking or some dumb thing.

Another reason for using the IED is that running a little richer reduces some of the engine heat, that was the original reason I tried them on my RK. My bike runs OK but does show the common signs of being lean as most motorcycles are these days due to EPA regs.
