Over the past several months, I have been able to get a little riding in between snow storms. Several times I have been riding along an the speedometer quits, the needle falls off to zero. The odometer keeps on working as well of the rest of the information panel. When I stop and start the bike, the speedo works. While this is intermittent I am wondering what might be causing this. Anyone have a similar problem?

Its sounds like ye'ole grounding issue.

My bet is on Ground/black wire #13 on the instrument cluster cable.

I spliced mine and grounded it to the ground right behind the flyscreen on the frame.

all my clock/trip/speedo problems haven't been back

With another round of snow and cold weather hitting Friday and Saturday, sound like a good day to remove the fly screen and check the grounds. Thanks....

Cpilot, when you find the solution let me know also. I am having the same problem. Happened the last two times I took it out. Shut off and restart takes care of the problem. Both times it happened just after a stop at a traffic light followed by a left hand turn. I just checked my grounds on the steering head last night when I installed some HIDs in my headlights, they are fine. Turning the steering head to the left does put the most strain on the wiring harness where it exits the guide, I hope that's not the problem....I'm still on warranty for a month...

I bough my 2006 Ulysses two months ago and I discovered problem with right blinker - this didn't work sometimes.
I checked cables and one ground (brown one) was broken in place where its connecting with three others.
This place is under plastic thing which keeps the whole harness close to the ram (under grasp-bar)
I discover, that more cables are weak there and next one (white with black stripe) was broken to - the (engine off cable).
Today I experienced one more thing - battery was discharged totally during the 16 miles trip!
HD service replaced my battery I checked charger system - looks OK - User Manual said, that discharging battery during the trip could be responsible bad battery.
When new battery was placed all started works fine but after few miles I discovered that speedometer stopped.
I suspect that cables used for Ulysses are very low quality and this will cause a lot of problems!
The cable harness needs to be recalled!
If you any one find solution for not working speedometer then please put your finding here!
Thank you!

Mine was caused by the red wire triple splice in the wiring harness in the area of the steering neck. The red wire carries the power up to the stuff in the flyscreen, including the instrument panel.

Etennuly, everything else on the panel keeps working.

This morning the speedo stopped working while traveling down a straight road so it seems my left turn theory was simple co-incidence. To top it off this morning soon after the speedo quit the check engine light came on. When I arrived at work and shut the bike off the fan ran! I have the comfort kit and reflash. The air temp was about 45...

Anyone find a solution for the intermediate speedo problem yet?

Mine is also cutting off every now and then!
