2007 Uly with 27k miles. I asked the owner if he has had problems or replaced the rear wheel bearings and he said no. Since I've heard here and on other boards about the bearings failing, if I buy this bike I will change them.

With that said, what else to look for?

Melted stator connector, pinging, dying fans, worn out belt, and a hundred other minor things that couldn't be found without a tear down. Ride it around the block, if it works, great. Replace that belt.

Do a search here on the "77" connector. Check and grease/replace/admire as needed.

My '07's primary chain adjuster had a leak (that got fixed) but that appears to have been minor.

I don't know if 07's with a mfg date of '06 (mine was Sept 06) have the better servo atop the airbox for the exhaust valve. I don't recall when the ones with better gears made it into the pipeline. When I got mine, a little hand (not mine) tried to turn it but it seems no worse for the wear and still hums along just fine. It was a failure point on some models but, like everything, the fix/work-around/soultion to the problem lies here in the archives.

My paltry .02

I've got a 2007 Sportster with the same belt and it looks fine. Just asking, but why would you replace it?

The Sportster uses a different (and inferior) belt. If that bike is on the original belt, it may break soon. The newer belts are stronger and will last longer, but I will still change them at 25k mile intervals anyway.

The belt is not inferior, just rated for less hp.

2007 Sportster 1200
HP 60
2007 Ulysses
Power: 103.00 HP

Teeps, the tubers use the same belt as the Sportster, and the X1 has 103hp. Only difference with the Sportster belt is that it has a HD part number and is labeled "Sportster" on it

The loads on the belt for a Sportster are far less than an XB. I'd keep a spare handy and just run the belt that's on there 'till it goes.
