Hmmm - what comes off... must go back on - right!? Well apparently not so with rear caliper on my 08 Uly. Put in new Lydall gold pads, pin, springs & retainer all in proper place. The problem is the 'bracket' under the caliper that has 2 bolts with rubber gizmos attached wont allow enough clearance to fit back over rotor. I tried squeezing the bracket backwards with channel locks (as someone suggested) but still not sufficient clearance. It is so tight that even if i removed the inner pad still not sure it would have the space to fit over rotor. What am I missing here? Any thoughts appreciated. j

Carefully press the pistons back into the caliper. Check the reservoir, fluid forced back through the system could cause an overflow.

Hey Mark - Yep - did that. Piston seated all the way in & luckly, no overflow from reservoir. The 'bracket' I refered to is actually the carrier assembly. I think I'm going to have to remove the 'black' bolts & reassemble the 2 halves with rotor in between. The 'floating' nature of the caliper seems to have sunk, and left me with insufficient clearance. Can't think of any other way to tackle it. Did this one "by the book"...and now see where it got me ?? Other options??.. welcomed. Thanks, j

The caliper should be able to slide on the pins from the carrier bracket. Most calipers should be able to slide completely off (My bike's not handy to check the setup). If the caliper is stuck, disassembly and pin greasing is the way to go. Be sure to not have any grease external to the bellows that cover the pins. Use as little grease as you can get away with.

Thanks Mark - Good advice. I did get rear done by diassembling carrier from caliper - cleaned & lightly lubed flange & pin bolts. The caliper has 'play' now as per spec. Got new Gold plus on front too. Was surprised how little wear on pads after 15K mi. Guess I gotta stop more ?! Front was pulsing pretty good - hence change. Sanded both rotors with 180 garnet paper - hopefully this will cure problem. Dealer said rotor not warped - we'll see. TTFN, j

Just had the same thing happen to my 08 Uly. Could not get the right side pad over the rotor. Took the caliper pin bolt out, cleaned and lub'ed it. Caliper movement restored and pad installation completed.
