I must say that I am a little disgruntled by all the threads that are talking about the fact that they are riding already. Well maybe not disgruntled, but jealous. It has rain here in New England for about 36 hours straight. Flooding all over the place, and they are talking about 24 more hours. So far I think the highest amount 6 inches in that 36 hours. At this rate it will dry out in july like the summer of 09. grrrr

I've been riding non stop since I bought a Uly in 2007, whats your lame excuse? : )

Oh, the air intake is nice and high, you don't need to worry about it sucking in water when crossing streams. Watch out for underwater boulders, DAMHIK.

The Nashua river is supposed to flood today, less than a half mile from my house. It's already overflowed and the road beside it is closed. Hopefully, the water won't reach here.
However, it could be worse. Imagine if all this rain was snow!
Take heart; the rain is going to end tonight, and the sun is coming out tomorrow; and the temps are going to be in the 60s for the rest of the week.

Froggy - Been out of work for 8 years and could not afford all the gear at once. Only item left to get is the boots. I have had a pair, but they finally gave out midseason last year. (lame excuse?)

Crusty - I live on the Merrimack in Lawrence, sorry to say, and it is up, but not like the NR. I will say my prayers that it does not get to your house. As far as the snow, 1 foot for every inch of rain. Nobody would be moving as they would not have planned for a storm as big as that.

My luck regarding the upcoming weather. I am leaving for florida tomorrow.

I used to love riding big blue in the rain until I filled up the rear wheel bearings with water.
It does wade across flooded areas very well though.
route 16 between Holliston and Milford today:

Little blue does OK in this (2007 Honda Fit)

If I was on the Buell, I would be pretty nervous in this situation since it was moving sideways at about 12 miles per hour and was about a foot deep.

It's about 30 degrees here. It's amazing how much more comfortable heated grips and a big windshield make! And using my snowboard jacket works great to. nice and toasty. Not raining here though. That would be sketchy fording water like that above.
