I installed an admore lightbar this afternoon. Awesome product!

http://www.admorelighting.com/index.php?page=produ cts/index.php&subpage=4

I took 12v power from the rear accessory outlet. Tapped everything I needed. Turned ignition on, and, the lightbar worked perfect. Tail light. Brake light. Turn signals. Brake light modulator (awesome. very bright!).
Turned ignition off to start putting the bike together now that it works correctly. I was so psyched about my new farkle I wanted to check it out again. Turn key. Nothing. Lightbar doesn't work. Neither does my front outlet! I check the fuses, and, they're all fine. Move the switched power somewhere to the tail light, and, the bar works fine, but, outlets still don't work!

Besides fuses, what could it be? The lightbar only uses a 2amp fuse and I have my zumo plugged into front outlet. That's on a 7amp fuse plug. Nothing blew. I just have no power at the plugs.

Confused

If you read your service manual (probably in the owners manual too), you would know the ECM controls the outlets, and will shut them off if the key is off, or the kill switch is off, or if you do not have enough voltage. Start the bike, the jacks will come to life. : )

Was the bike running???

Just a wild guess.. but at some point (don't recall which year), the outlets are controlled by the ECM. If the ECM doesn't think there is enough power.. it shuts them down.

Try it with the bike running or with a battery charger connected?

If your battery goes below a certain voltage (can't remember what) the ECM will shut off power outlets until the battery voltage goes back up.

also make sure your run switch is on....

I'd bet money the kill switch was off. I was 15 minutes into electrical diagnostics on my non-working outlets before I figured that one out.

Bingo!
thanks guys! I just went out to the garage. Turned key. Nothing. Started bike and outlets worked!

Mike, I read somewhere about that issue and for some reason it has stuck in my little brain. It was the first thing I checked

This light bar is really great. I'll post a youtube video once I get the bike back together.

Thanks!

You don't need to start the bike. You just need to have the key "on" and the kill switch selected to "run."

Hey Tipsy, not in my case. I never turn the kill switch off. It was on in this case. Once I started the bike, the outlets worked!
