What is the engine availability for our uly's?

Can you buy a complete new one? You can buy brand new complete HD engines what about Buell?

When the day comes when it's just plain worn out, will there be others you can buy? What about rebuilding it? Will rebuild kits be around for a price worth doing the work?

Just thinking down the road...

Yes you can go to your local dealer and fork out a few grand and get a brand new engine right from HD. I know the 1125R engine is $6250, I will have to check for an XB one.

Still working on finding the XB12, but should be in the same ballpark.

$4995 for the number Swampy posted. Better off spending the $1200 more and getting the superior 1125R motor : )

What will be interesting to see is in 7 years, when HD drops factory support, will we see a bunch of engines photographed in a dumpster somewhere, or will they show up on ebay for "reasonable" prices?

OTOH, what if they run out of spare engines ~5 years in? Will (can?) they crank the production line back up to produce a few more?

Yep its no longer in production, so just like any other special order part, there may be a slight lead time to get it.

Being that your 07 bike's motor has been out of production for 3 years, you would be waiting regardless.

Only took 4 months to get an ETS for my '07 -- how long could the whole motor take ?

Will an 1125 engine mount up in the uly? How much work would be involved?
