When I turn hard right bike dies. I took off the fairing and checked all the connectors with the bike running and all was good. When I pull on the main harness she dies. There are 2 grounds coming out of the harness and they are good. The problem i think is in the harness below where the grounds come out.
What do I do now?
Join NASCAR and only turn Left or ?????

Check your wires under your seat. Did you check your ignition wires also when you were under there? My 04 did that and it was a pinched wire only mine broke in half. I respliced a wire on there to make it longer. It's been a long time but I remember very well what would happen. And it was when I would turn right to.

Is this a 2006 Uly?

Could be; 1. where wire connects to key ign switch. Unplug-replug may get it to reconnect.

2. Most likely. Wiring harness bundle between forks and left side scoop. There is a red wire(power for stuff under fly screen)that has a three into one splice with a wax sealer in heat shrink, this one usually will make the power to the bars(kill sw etc), gages, and power outlet go stupid. Take out three wire splice, do one wire section into flyscreen area and then do three into one splice. This little three into one will fool you. It can look and feel like it is not broken, cut the heat shrink to find out if one of them broke off and is intermittently separating.

3.Does not really count for this, but the other three wire splice is for the right turn signal circuit, might as well move this one up there while you are in it.

4. Other end of harness under the tank near the front head, could be pulling into the head fins melting the loom, shorting that wire when pulling forward on the harness.

Most probable #2.

I think #2 is the problem. I can pinch the harness just under were the 2 sets of ground wires come out and kill it.I hate to cut into the main harness, she is still under warranty

It is an easy fix that they cannot do, what is in my opinion, a correct fix. It makes no sense to me to have a splicer connector in a place where movement of the wires is inevitable. That is why I moved both of the three into one splices up into the flyscreen. It also allows for a smaller wire bundle through the plastic clamp, so it should be easier on the rest of the harness as well.

It will be your call on warranty. There will be the down time, but that you can prove where it is will help. My concern would be will they warranty another related problem if you repair it. I never had a problem with this by being able to prove my repair was properly done and not a cause of any other issues.

I started repairing my wiring problems about the third time they said they could not find any problem and had the bike a week to get to that conclusion.

Bill, it is a bit of work, you need to disconnect every thing under the flyscreen, unwrap the harness and pull on the individual wires, one will stretch, you found your issue.
On mine as Vern's it was the red (main power) wire that was the problem although mine wasen't at the splice.
Had a few week when i would go to back in to the curb and the bike would die at full rightlock.
A good tech will find it, or do it yourself.

Talked to Frederick HD/Buell today and they told me if I cut into the main wiring harness it will void my Warranty! So Williamsport HD/Buell will get to the job. If I were doing the work i would run a dedicated hot to the fly screen area, but not until I was out of warranty.
The good new is I bonded with my XT. I installed my comfort kit today, about 2 hours of work. I will get my reflash when they fix my harness.

Yep if its under warranty, and you start mucking around, it usually will make your life more difficult in the end. Let the dealer do their work. : )

If you are going to wire in accessories, do it onto the cigarette lighter wires. It is all fused and worst comes to worse if you destroy it, you can get another one for $15.

Are you SURE you want reflash ??? Fan runs pretty constantly. Comfort kit on my 08 X w/o reflash took care of most the problem - fan runs seldom.
