Greetings.

Being vertically challenged I recently bought an XT but I still need another inch or so to flat foot. Does the XT already have the Low Seat or would the Low Seat on the Buell website get me another 1.5"? Anybody have any experience with that particular seat?

Thanks y'all!

If anything, the "low" seat will net you about 0.25".

Flatfoot is a state of mind - the bikes are light and very well balanced. Toeing the ground with one or both feet seems to serve most owners just fine. But...it's all about self-confidence.

Try reducing your rear preload to increase the sag when you're weight is on the seat. Don't go too far, it'll start to handle like a Buick...but you may be able to mitigate some of the stretch.

Something I learned is to leave the sneakers wear my boots. That adds at least an inch.

On longer trips or anytime there is something besides blacktop involved, I wear my MX boots.

I lower my X to get about 3/4" off by using the Ss shock. Search for "lower seat" for info if you want to do this.

I have an 09 XB12X. The stock seat was the lower of the two seats. I am a 300 plus person and the low seat was cutting into my ass bad. The seat was not shaped for my fat ass at all! I snagged one of the taller older style from a northern dealer and its the DEAL! Comfy for me and because the bike sags whem my fat ass is on it I can flat foot it just fine. I think the lower seat has a wider ass print and makes ones legs tend to spread out more. The taller seat for me allowed my legs to dangle more straight down. Make since? AHhahaaaaaaa. I would not have ridden the bike for long without changing out the seat to one with suffecient padding. Its an all day bike now!

i've got a low seat and personally i like the standard a lot more. maybe when i get some extra bucks i'll have it reworked. i don't even like the covering that they use on the low seat.

i'm only 5'8" and i don't have that much problem on the bike at all.

When you do the Ss shock conversion does it lower the ground clearance or just the tall section?

The XT seat is lower than the one on the X, I know that. The rider's area "dips" more than on the X model. I'm not sure if it's the same as the "low" seat though.

Please see the seats guide in the New Uly Owner section. All 07+ X, XT and XP models come with the exact same seat. The $220 accessory low seat is a hair lower.

Ev780, looks like a lot of good advice.

I had one made by Baldwin Motorbike Saddles and I can tell you about it if you pm me (I am very pleased with it), it is the same height as the Buell lower gel seat which I have as well.

If you ever find yourself around Pueblo or Colorado Springs let me know and you can try it.

Thanks everyone.

F_skinner--I might just do that as I am on the Front Range occasionally.

Not a problem. You can get a hold of me on the CBR (Colorado Buell Riders) part of this site just about everyday.
