My new bike(2008xt new to me)should be here next week some time.
It will be going to Williamsport HD,Buell in Maryland for state inspection.
The Warranties are good until August of this year, but I have no way to prove that the required servies have been done if I need Warrante work done, or if any recall's have been done.
So is there any way to fine out if the bike is up to date? Thank Bill&Beverly

Should be absolutely no problem. Any dealer can run the VIN to see if there are any open recalls.

Ride it and have fun!

Williamsport has great customer service. They'll take care of you.

That is Great to know.
My Daughter has the Desert Rose Caf'e in Williamsport at 21 north Concocheague street. A fine place to stop and recharge.
Williamsport HD/Buell is a Big sponsor of Bike Night in Williamsport

Additionally, it is against the law for a dealer to sell a vehicle, new or used, from their inventory,
with an open recall.

Does running the VIN also list non-recall / warranty service? In other words, are the dealers required to log all maintenance performed or just recall / warranty work? I don't have any paperwork showing the 1000 mile service was done (oil/filter change, trans fluid change, etc.)

My bike was a RePo(found out after the sale) so maintenance / warranty service performed would be Great! with a vin check

Recall and Product Updates only.
Recalls or product updates should not be confused with "service bulletins."

In other words, are the dealers required to log all maintenance performed or just recall / warranty work?

Dealers can log other work done, but it's not required. Dealers can and some do send maintenance reminders via mail, as a way to get you back in the shop.

There is no system in place for a dealership to log its service records globally throughout the HD network. You have to go to the dealer directly (if you know who it was), and ask them for reprints.

The only thing logged on H-Dnet, as noted above, are recalls (with open or complete notations, as those ARE logged), product campaigns, and warranty in-service dates.

Thanks guys. I'll call the place I got it from, and if they can't send a record, I'll just assume it was never done just to play it safe.
