imagine what putting some regular lights on the guards would look like. are they set up like running lights or turn signals and what kind of windscreen is that. | ||

Windscreen looks like a CeeBailey. I love mine, works great for my 6'4" frame. The handguard lights are nice touches. I've got an email from Vern somewhere I need to read...it popped up on my phone the other day while I was shoveling show off something-or-other and I never did read it. I'm trying to figure out something "marker-light-like" for the outer edges of my Journey bags, since they make the damn bike nearly 4' wide and aren't lit at all. Just trying to find something smaller than 4"x3"...but these look like they may do the trick. | ||

I was thinking of putting LED's on my wind guards. I actually already bought them... Then I decided to switch to bark busters, so I'm holding off. Look good though! | ||

On the front I used amber LED lights by 'Trucklite' pn 35200Y. I cut rectangular holes to fit the protruding part of the lens making them flush with the outside of the hand guard. I cut down the body of the light with a flat cutting tip on my soldering gun then radius'ed everything with a file. I used a product called Siliprene(a gray silicon adhesive/sealant)to glue them in place and to seal over the back side to block light bleed through as well as coated the wires to hold them in place and protect them.  The rear ones are pn 13200R. I made an aluminum plate to fit under the license plate using it's screws to mount it and wired it to the license plate light. These lights are just outboard of the license plate and from the side are rearward enough to be past the bags as side marker lights. I do not want to deal with wires in the bags as I frequently have them on and off. I used the 3M hi visibility trailer marking tape on the sides and backs of the bags.  Note that the tail light is on as well as the markers. These are simply wired as full time running lights. Like the tail light, key on, lights on. LED's = very little amperage + very bright light. Great job. Gives me some inspiration to work on the Uly since there's too much snow and ice to ride it and I've already changed out the bags twice since November. | ||

I'm still thinking of amber and red markers on the bags. I'll either use a heated gear plug like I did on my topcase for my high-mount brakelite, or find a way to put contacts on the frame and the bag so that when it's on, it completes the circuit. *shrug* We'll see...right now just trying to figure out the best spot for my operator's tube / first aid kit. | ||

Though they are still not quite done it might be time to throw up a picture so if someone is getting it done before riding season they can see one way of doing it. I need to whoop up some dark gray color to match the hand guards to touch up the adhesive/sealer around the outside and color the inside sealer to match.     The wiring is simple, hook to something that comes on with the key that stays on when running. My front is to the power lead for the heated grips. The rear is to the license lamp. The rear ones stand out much more than the stock tail lamp from all angles. It is difficult to take pictures of LED's that are turned on.   |
