I do not know if you Uly girls have seen this but this is a good article in the AMA Magazine about a guy and his Uly.
Anyone know him.

This story, to me, shows why it is important to bring the BRAN and to be a member of this web site.

I am almost positive I could have got this guy back on the road without him having to spend the money for a hotel or service at the worse dealer in this area. Other than him breaking down a short distance from me it was a good article. (He was just down the road from me.)

Hi Frank
Can you post a link to the article. Have not got an AMA mag since I quit racing in the 70's

Bike probably pooped out because it is too darned clean. Filth protects the bike.

I agree EG... Ulys thrive on dirt and grime.

I read the article too. His bike broke down due to poor service from a dealership before he left. Too bad most readers will get "poor reliability" out of it, instead of "stupid dealership".

His clutch just needed adjusted....

you would spend more time getting the tools out from under the seat than it would take to do the adjustment...

Or you could get an 1125R and never adjust the clutch again : )

Heck, yeah, I know him! That's "Slippery Pete" from ADVrider.com. I hung out with him and his lovely wife in Sipapu, NM during "ADV "WestFest 07."

He wrote an extensive RR about this trip in ADVrider.com. It was a great story. If you enjoyed this article you should look up his RR report.

Slippery Pete is a great guy; he even sent me an original Buell promotional article about the Uly after I asked him at WestFest.

And after that ride, Pete was an even bigger Uly fan that at the beginning. Kudos to him.

Ok I give up.... I cannot find it on ADVRider.... Actually I got stuck on the Rally in Colorado thread. I doubt I will be going (unless BadWeb people are going) but I do find myself in that area (South Fork) a lot.

I wish I had the opportunity to help him. I hate to see people take Buells to Pikes Peak HD.

Great story! This is what motorcycling is all about. Makes me wish the 20+inches of snow was gone.

Frank, if I have time today I'll look for it and post a link here. It was quite a saga with lots of great photos and comments.

Would this be it?

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25 3207

Pete looks to not be slippery anymore?

Well, that didn't take too long...

If anyone wants to read the (LONG!) trip report from which the American Motorcyclist story is excerpted, the link is HERE.

Interestingly, he has opted for the screen name of "Pete" instead of his former moniker "Slippery Pete." Probably under the influence of his esposa. Slippery no longer, Pete's done been CAUGHT !

He took the wrong route to Moab... He missed some of the best roads in Colorado but that is ok. I am glad he is safe and sound and it was a very good read although I have not made it through the whole thing yet.

He was less than two miles from my house at one point and only 15 miles down the road when he was held up in the dive hotel. Seeing what his problem was it would have taken 15 minutes but that is a moot point.

I am glad he shared his trip. I wish he did it on the BadWeb but I understand how people get used to a site and know the people so they post there.

Thanks Larryjohn and Greg for the links.

This story, to me, shows why it is important to bring the BRAN and to be a member of this web site.

I've seen a couple of mentions over the last few months to the BRAN or some directory of inmates that travelers can use if they're in trouble away from home. Looked around the site (and especially Stormfront) but can't see a link. How do we add ourselves to the directory?

No problem, it is a small thing that allows us to help our fellow Buell Riders in a time of need.

Making the cyberspace that we call a Buell Community a little better than when we found it, so to speak.

I just read Pete's whole thread. Now I am really pissed I did not get a chance to met him. Looked like he got the full Buell experience on that trip... Great read.

I just finished it as well.
I've read a lot of ride reports on ADV and this was a good one.
