Guys, I just got an e-mail from Competition Accessories and they are having a sale on Pirelli tires. A set of Angels, 120/70-17 & 180/55-17, is $222.98 WITH shipping! That's the cheapest I've seen anywhere. I can't pass this up. Other model Pirelli's are on sale too. |

Perfect timing. I just ordered a set myself. Now I wonder if I can use my wife's "sale" logic and get a new 2010 rear wheel from American Sport Bike with my "savings." I'm sure I could convince her. |

The current issue of Cycle World magazine has a short review on the tires. They liked them. |

Rats, I haven't even scrubbed in my new Stradas. Why do I always pay too much? I can't really complain, I got 10,500 out of the Stradas. |

I've read a few reviews in the magazines - everyone seems to like them. |

the one review I read with a little 'concern' was the one from Sport Rider http://www.sportrider.com/gear/146_1001_pirelli_an gel_st_tires/index.html One guy on the Aprilia forums had some initial worries: http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php? t=195029 But I ordered a set anyway |

The guys from Visordown liked them. As well as anyone I've seen with them on their bike. (Message edited by ulynut on February 07, 2010) |

Every time I've found a tire that I really liked, there's been somebody who had nothing good to say about it. And every time I've tried a new tire and didn't like it, there's been somebody who thought it was the greatest rubber he'd ever had on a bike. To add to the mix, there've been tires that I loved on one bike and hated on another. I really liked Avon Azaros on my M2 but I hated how they felt on my Uly. Anyway, if the Angels work as good as Diablo Stradas, 223 bucks for a set sounds like a damned good deal. I hope somebody does a similar deal on Dunlop Road Smarts, as those are the tires I'm enamored with at the present time. |

If you read all 3 pages of the Aprilla forum post above, the opinions start to improve as they get some mileage on them. I agree with the guy who says it's "what you ride, where you ride, and how you ride" that determines the performance of a certain tire. I'm gunna see for myself! |

The '09 XT's came with them. Maybe someone can chime in. |

2010 XT's, and being that they only built like a hundred before d-day, you aren't going to find many samples that way. |

My '09 XT came with Stradas. Angels sound the same thing, only better. |

According to the Pirelli literature I picked up at the NYIMS the Angel is suppose to replace the Strada. |

I have an Angel rear that I had put on mid summer last year. Love the tire way more than the Strada2 that was on there original. Turn in seems to be better and so far the "lip" where the compounds meet is non-existent compared to the Strada that I could feel it as I leaned over. Handles great in the rain too. As a matter of fact it has seen more rain miles than dry... |

Svh, are you saying the Angel is a dual compound tire? Nothing I've seen mentions this, even the latest brochure I picked up at the Pirelli booth at the NY-IMS. Hummmmm? |

Hey Don, what pressures did the Pirelli guy recommend for those? I remember you saying it was much higher than I normally run. |

When I told him Buell recommends 34F-36R he said that's too low. He said he would go with 38F-40/41R. I think I'll try 36F-38R to start and see how the bike responds. The bike handled fine at stock pressures, it's just that the tire wear was accelerated. |

Someday- I will look at the articles I have read. I thought I had read it was a dual compound because it is a replacement for the Strada2. Will let you know what I find even if it is nothing. |

The Strada was also single compound. |
