For those that remember the problems 3 or 4 years ago w/our fans. Mine went out last summer on my 06. replaced it and I am wondering if the newer ones are more reliable, etc. I do not want to go to the problem of putting on a comfort kit only to need to tear into it every 10-15K miles to replace the fan. Seems like all the little problems w/the 06's have been pretty much taken care of but also seems like they did it quitley. The healdight houing, fuel pump, and the fan(?).

If you do the CK your fan will come on less and last longer.
That's mostly the why I put the CK on.

And does it run any less? We, 06'ers, do not have the luxary of the reflash.

I haven't got the reflash, just the comfort kit, and the fan definitely runs less.

From what I understand, the reflash actually makes the fan run more at speeds above 15mph, but less at speeds below that.

On my '06 the kit does make the fan run less, but more importantly, is it's reason for being called a "comfort" kit. Much less rider heat, the seat is much cooler on hot days.

I replaced my original fan around 20,000 miles. It gave me some ill sounding noises for 5,000 of those. I have 25,000 on the replacement and it still sounds fine.

I believe there was a problem with the grease being below standard for the amount of heat they absorb.

All I can say for sure is, the fan was updated at some point.

Somewhere along the line, the part number went from .02A8 to .02A8A, indicating a revision. But the system won't let me look up *when* it occurred, only *that* it occurred.
