Opinions are all over the place. You can spend a TON of money trying to figure out that motorcycles are windy things.  I tried the stock screen, the Buell tall screen, and no screen at all. The best for me, as far as buffeting, was no screen at all. I'm 6'3", and have an unusually high tolerance for discomfort though. I found that the bike handles much better at high speeds with no screen as well. Have fun.  | ||

i had to go no screen at all until i got my palmer bracket and taller windscreen. anything taller than the tall buell screen is gonna help out. | ||

Something tall with a Laminar Lip added may work. Not that I'm much help at 5'9", but there's room to move the lip up an inch or so should I ever get taller  , which is unlikely at my age. The concept of the wind flowing over the top works well for me and the top of the lip is barely chin high when I'm seated on the bike. No buffeting. YMMV. | ||

Go with the 28" Parabellum and a set of the Memphis Shades lower deflectors on the top of the forks and you'll be set. I have a 26" with the lowers. I'm 6'1 and top of shield is just below eye level. Nice quiet and CALM. | ||

You can get the wind off your chest with any taller windshield. But you then have to deal with buffetting. Either the lowers or a big ass tank bag will help there. | ||

My B.A.W. does not have buffeting problems, nor with wind from other traffic. It is possible to make your own with a little skill, a sheet of polycarbonate, some patience, an idea, and a few tools. | ||

6'6" - Hmmm. A 28" screen is gonna be like a barn door - lots of dynamics you may wish to avoid. I'm only 5'8" but run a 16" Parabellum and Palmer brackets = clean air all around. So accounting for the ht difference in seated position, a rough calculation would suggest perhaps a 22 -24" screen & brackets may do the trick. The tank bag & other variables also change airflow. I wish you could get loaner screens to experiment with - trial & error gets expensive. Good luck. j | ||

I've got a Madstad on my Uly. A bit pricey, but it works great. You're taller than I, but the adjustability should cover you. Good luck.  | ||

There is still a hole between the top of my Memphis Shades and the bottom of the big screen I am running (generic harley shield) that keeps the wind coming up from underneath. Either a big tank bag or something acrylic (or ?) between the Shades and the big screen. Then...some peace at 100 mph. I hope. | ||

Thanks for the info. I am a big wind block with my body size. The wind will always be a problem but i want to lesson the noise witch i probably won't on this bike. I did three iron butts last year and at times it would have been nice to not deal with the wind. But i was proud to do the rides on a uly. I have been looking at the bmw r1200rt but that is a few years and $ away. | ||

I too have been trying to figure the best way to solve this problem.. I am 6'1" and my first helmet was 3/4 which was fine in October(ga) but when weather got colder the buffeting and tearing of my eyes got the best of me. So, I bought a Shoei RF1000 thinking this would help, and it did, somewhat. Unfortunately fogging was worse than the wind. Then I found that without the windshield, there was clean air, so quiet, but at higher speeds 60 mph and up the pressure on my chest was too much. Then I discovered that with my tank bag in place, and the windshield installed, there was a great reduction of wind and buffeting, even with my 3/4 helme-which I prefer. The Shoei was waste of my money, but it might be ok in warmer weather. My thinking now is for a little taller windshield and shades. I just hate constantly spending money on this bike trying to get some creature comfort.. | ||

I don't know how tall Eric is but I'm betting he is 5'10" or less. If I were shorter my shield would be fine, I think. | ||

+1 for the Laminar lip. I don't know if it's the best solution but it reduces the wind on me by probably 50% which makes long days less tiring. It's configurable too, by up and down movement which I plan to experiment with this year. |
