I'd love to hear the real story about what actually happened behind the scenes regarding new bikes after the shut down was announced. There have been rumors about international models slated for shipment that were reworked for domestic sale, dealer inventory shipped back to East Troy, etc. Does anyone know what actually happened, and what numbers of bikes were involved? I'd really like to hear from someone who really had the facts. There was a post on the "Court in session" board asking a similar question, but no factual response was given.

I'd like Paul Harvey to come back with the rest of the story...

I don't know that there is a real, single story. Those that I have spoken with (who might actually know what transpired) all have a slightly-to-greatly different take on things. As with viewing a car crash, your opinion depends upon where you were standing.

The "real story" is probably quite mundane; no conspiracies, no drama. Just piss poor management at several levels.

But, I'm sure the lore will grow over the years, with the conclusions ever distancing themselves from reality.

My main question is about numbers. One story had 500 that were slated for Japan being reworked for domestic, the link to the story posted above by EG mentions 30 some Brazilian destined units, and also mentions crated Buells being loaded just yesterday. How many units are still in the pipeline to dealers?
