Questions for 2007 XB12X Confusion here! (Comfort kit)If I order a kit will the ECM need a update? If yes, what changes in the programing? Is the fan (run time) determined by the temp sensor, the ECM or both? Will rear cyclinder run cooler with kit or is a change in ECM progaming cause a cooler operating temp? Jeeze! Babble caused by my cabin fever. | ||

OK, (ECM update)for DDFI3, 2008 and above. Comfort kit still the Cats Meow for a 06-07? Heat and fan run time reduction? Some way to reduce the crazy urge to put barbeque sauce on my upper right leg. | ||

I have an '06 Uly. I put the kit on. (side note, never had an issue with leg heat, but I always wear overpants and armor. No sense getting a second generation of Ti implants in the ol' legs!) Fan runs MUCH less, and runtime after key off is much shorter. As noted, there is no reprogramming for the '06/07 ECM...but for the bikes where it DOES reprogram, all it does is add to the reference tables for the fan. Stock / pre-kit was head temp only. Post-kit is head temp *and* vehicle speed. Designed NOT to run the fan below something like 7 or 8 mph or at a standstill, to cut down on the "annoying loud fan". Above that speed, it seems to have a more constant run to aid airflow through the engine bay and fan housing, and out over the rear tire. | ||

Any issues with not doing the ECM remap? Does the remap really help optimize the effects of the kit, or will there still be a benefit to adding the kit without it? | ||

I only added the kit, with no remap, and there definitely is a benefit to it. Well worth the small cost. Your right thigh will thank you for it. Like Ratbuell says, it seems to me that the remap is mainly to reduce the annoyingness (?) of the loud fan at stop. Doesn't annoy me enough to bring it to a dealer to get the remap done. | ||

watch out for those inner shroud holes that the bolts go into they are relatively easy to get cross threaded and I found you can break lose those threaded hole pieces without much pressure at all. |
