Newfie is coming from St. John's, Newfoundland. I'm not positive, but he might be the long distance rider.

Great job on the map! But aren't the folks east of East Troy going the wrong way?

Awesome map, just what I was thinking. New question, when you reserve a room do you have to pay the total up front?

good question Scotty why not just call them and find out!

For room reservations, call the Alpine Valley Resort at (800) 227-9395. Tell them the dates you are going to stay and that you are with the Buell Homecoming event to get the discounted rate.

then report back to let everyone know what you discovered.

I emailed them, and...

"You are welcome to pay at checkout. We just need a card to hold it."

Is there camping in the area? I may be able to attend as part of my "heading east" trip next summer, but I'd prefer to camp.

That map makes New Mexico look pretty deserted...

Dr. Greg,
My son and I stayed at Whitewater Lake State Park last Homecoming. Secluded, quiet, forested, and toilets if that is even necessary with all the forest there.

OK, fellas. Just signed up for the $35 banquet package. I'll camp somewheres around.

This will be the starting leg (NM -> WI) of "Dr. Greg's 2010 Grand Tour of the East." Look forward to seeing everyone.

I've got some relatives in northern WI I'll visit; after that I'm headin' east and would be tickled to visit any of you jokers that are east of there...

There are former students of mine all over the USA I can usually stay with; plus there's the BRAN and the ADV "Tent Space" resources.

Lookin' forward to it!!

Tonight we officially locked in Alpine Valley Resort as the Host Hotel and Banquet Hall. The dinner will be Friday, June 18th.
Rooms will be locked out for us until the end of March. Reserving a room requires a credit card to hold the room, but you won't be charged until the stay.
Now for the "bad" news.
What we have left on the shopping site is it for availability.
Once the counter reads Zero, that's it. The banquet is sold out. No more seats are available. The hall is at it's legal capacity. With the 300 seats on Paypal, ones we received by personal check, and the "Adopt an Elf" seating (former BUELL employees that had their way paid by donations) we have reached the limit.
You, of course, can still attend Homecoming. However, you won't be able to attend the dinner/concert.
Keep that in mind. Buy now if you want to be involved.
Thanks.

Ok, signed up for the banquet today but didn't see any link to the hotel. Are they by phone only? I didn't see any rates posted anywhere for the hotel. If anybody knows please inform us. That time of year might be nice to camp but if the rates aren't too bad a guaranteed dry bed sounds good too!

Camping is fun (but tiring) but staying in a hotel full of Buellers is pretty darn neat. Our cost for 3 nights at the Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy is $220. That's $70 for each weekday night and $80 for Friday night. Wednesday night through Friday night and we skidaddle on Saturday for the ride back to Nebraska. Alpine Valley Resort followed through by mailing us a detailed confirmation letter of our reservation. By the way, that rate is for my wife, son, and I and it is for 1 queen bed. My boy will sleep on a blow-up mattress that we will pack.
I should think that some of you guys that are making the trip by yourselves could maybe make arrangements with others on BadWeb to share the cost of a room. A room with two twin size beds costs the same and that would be only $110 each for two guys or even less for 3 Buellers. At least you'd have access to a nice bugless sleep with hot showers and toilet without recluse spiders. I think a rollaway bed was $15 extra.

Here is a map of participating Buell Homecoming folks that have given me their permission to post up their locations. It will be updated several times a day as the emails keep pouring in.
