Seems there are a few here who have drive belts on back order. I've got a perfectly serviceable one (10K mile) sitting in my garage that I'd be happy to send out to anyone in need. Once you receive your new belt from the dealer, just pass it along to the next guy. Heck, I'll even include free shipping via UPS (US or Canada). | ||

I have a brand new belt that I bought last spring. If someone is in desperate need of a belt to get back on the road I'll gladly part with it and when their new belt comes in they can send it to me. PM me if you want to make arrangements. | ||

@Strokizator; I have been monitoring the other thread and watching it degenerate into a real mess. Someone mentioned Buellers turning against one another and that thread seems to be headed there. Hey, it's winter and folks are stressed out with the cold, inability to ride and the mess that HD put all of us in. The least I can do is make my spare belt available and hopefully calm down some of the folks who are so stressed out. You're offer is more generous than mine though and I admire you for that but my bike isn't included. Like I said if someone really needs a belt then my offer stands too. PM me and let's make a deal. Hey Ulyken, I was just pulling your leg. One of my riding buddies is a "topper". No matter what you did, he did it better, faster or higher. If you broke your leg but still managed to walk out from the desert, he once had two broken legs and ran a marathon. Anyway, I wanted to just once be the "topper" but I can see that it's not only me when it comes to not liking that kind of dude. Really, I meant no offense. There's lots of ways to help each other out here on this forum. | ||

We aren't turning on each other over there. I'm not mad at anyone here. Just frustrated with the mother-ship's distribution system. Think how small a glitch this is compared to if the hd-Moco were to go under. We need to find alternate sources for our parts. | ||

This is what i like to see,cooperation within a community to help out your fellow human being and not be so darn selfish. I'm willing to help another, can't say i've never been burnt but it is generally worth the chance. In the short run and in the long run we will need the help one another to keep your bikes on the road, I for one know i will be keeping these bikes for a long time and having a group willing to support you and trade/loan parts and information is priceless. I really doubt this is the mothership's distribution system's fault. This is supply and demand, plain and simple. Just like before a snowstorm or a hurricane, people make a run on four things: Gas Bread Toilet paper Milk Personally, I never bought into the "sky is falling" mentality...but that's what we're seeing with Buell parts (note I said PARTS; accessories are a different, we're-not-making-any-more situation). People heard the news and scrambled to buy every single item they could get their hands on. Add to that the influx of new owners and an unprecedented number of new Buells hitting the road all at once....and you have suppliers who can't keep up. I suspect once this round of backorders is cleared up, things will return to normal. In the meantime, though...it certainly won't keep me from riding! And to the original topic: that is awesome. I wish I could contribute...but all I have "in stock" at the house for parts are little items like electrical pins, various screws, and some fluids... | ||

Ratbuell, Some systems are setup so that when you have say 20 pieces it is full. When the level gets to 5 pieces the part is restocked from the vendor by ordering 15 pieces. The vendor takes one week to fill the order and the stock never drops to less than one piece. This system can work for years without fault. The problem comes when and if: Instead of getting your normal 5 orders per week, you get 121 orders. The system being setup to only order 15 pieces from the vendor when the level is at 5 pieces and not setup to order more because it cannot sense an increased demand. The parts come in at 15 per week while 5 new orders are received each week on top of the 121 (one time sky is falling order). If you do the math on this system's shortage, we wind up with a back order situation for 11 weeks till the system gets back on track. The reason I blamed the distribution system was that I imagined (not based on facts) hd having some kind of automatic ordering system in place for their inventory. For all I know Goodyear may have to milk some kind of hybrid silk worm to get some unobtanium thread to make the core of the belts out of. My question is; can we within a reasonable budget modify the XB12XT to run a 1 1/2" belt? Concerns? | ||

Ourdee, As i see it in my distorted brain the only thing you would need to worry about is clearance to the right,front pulley cover, swingarm ,belt guard. the belt will thrust to the left in a normal drive situation and will ride on the shoulder of the rear pulley | ||
