Here is the plan... Get the luggage racks from twisted throttle http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/3 744/474/ get these cases http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52 9179&highlight=holan Here is the question to those in the know. Where can I get a mounting kit (not a fixed bolted on but removable) for the 16mm racks from twisted throttle that will mount the flat sided boxes? I really like the trax boxes from twisted throttle and they have a turn key system but its $200 more than I can do the Holan boxes so money talks! |

I've been thinking of doing the exact same thing and have been looking for an inexpensive mounting kit. Happy Trail has one kit for $50 which includes everything needed for two cases (everywhere else it's been $60 per side). The Happy Trail kit looks pretty solid. http://www.happy-trail.com/Happy-Trails%20Pannier% 20Mount%20Kit.aspx The other thing I've been thinking about is going completely cheap and using electric conduit clamps from Home Depot. I got the idea from Palmer's web site. http://palmerproducts.auto.officelive.com/images/r ack%20clips.jpg Those clamps are a couple bucks at Home Depot and I'd pair them up with big wing nuts. |

Ah.. now I see what you're talking about. I was thinking about how to detach the luggage, but you're looking for how to quick detach the racks themselves. http://www.hepco-becker.de/anbauanleitungen/650703 .0001.pdf The self locking nut looks like a pretty straight forward piece of hardware. Like something that would be used in furniture too. Maybe we'll be lucky and we can find an equivalent piece of hardware if we scrounge around local hardware stores. Otherwise we can just go with wingnuts. Anybody see a quick release fastener like the ones in the PDF? |

metaldude, you had it right the first time. I was looking for the happy trails kit but could not remember where I saw it. Now that you gave me the link, I see its meant for 18mm tubing and the twisted throttle racks are 16mm. Maybe I need to get the SU racks and mounting kit instead, I've just heard they have some fitting issues? As much as I'd like quick removal racks as well, thats just not important enough to me but I do want to be able to remove the luggage. |

I really suck at math, so I may be wrong. But it looks like we're still in business. Happy Trails sells three different sets of brackets: ♦ the MK750A kit is to be used for mounting cases to any of our Happy-Trail SU racks as well as other racks built with 3/4" tubing. ♦ The MK625 kit is to be used for mounting cases to any of our Happy-Trail Northwest or SL racks as well as other racks built with 5/8" tubing. ♦ The MK710-A kit is to be used for mounting cases to the BMW R1200GSA and KTM LC8 stock racks as well as other racks built with .710" tubing. The Twisted Throttle racks are 16mm. There's 25.4 millimeters in an inch. 5/8" = 0.625" That times 25.4 equals 15.875 millimeters. So I'm thining that the Happy Trail MK625 kit will work with the Twisted Throttle racks. |

u might suck at math but I can bet I'm worse actually I have figured it out and I planned to get the ones from happy trails (you?) anyway and modify them if I needed to. Seem like the way to go. Question for you though since it seems you are = to happy trails, are there fitting issues with the racks as I have heard. |

Anybody see a quick release fastener like the ones in the PDF? They look a lot like Camloc fasteners. Check out specs here: http://www.afscamloc.net/xua/downloads/4002%20Seri es.pdf Available here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/caml oc4002.php or here http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection. asp?Product=6080
