Seat Transmitted Distortion.(Or a condom for your ECM?)

After reading post about ECM's going bad, and seeing the marks on my seat where it is rubbing on the connectors, I figured I would try something. Yes the seat does go back on : )

It has about 1/4" of air space between ecm and protector. It will not turn because the bend in the plate is tight against the ECM side. It does not come close to the wires or battery. It is 1/8" plate. I left the ECM standoff at the stock size. I was going to lower it 1/8" but and use 2 bolts but when I glued my front nut in during the comfort kit install the glue stuck the bolt to the nut and the now nut turns in the plastic.

any reason I should not do this?

You can still drill holes through the ECM from the other side.

Froggy, I don't think I follow you. Why would I want to drill a hole through my ECM? : )

For the same reason you would put NOS in your gas tank.... it will make your bike SUPER FAST!!

Sorry Froggy, I was thinking all serious on maybe I missed a thought on how to mount it. Now I understand : )
But it will keep the seat induced stress off the connectors and ECM cover.

I might make another one using .065" or .08" instead of .125" thick. Might give me more seat clearance and the ability to use the stock bolt (washer built into head). I need to see how strong the thinner stock is.

Why would I want to drill a hole through my ECM?

So you can mount your under-seat license plate and light.
Why else would anyone drill holes in their ECM?
