Court - if the bags you're looking at fit HB brackets (or have adaptors to fit HB brackets) you should be fine with your Outdoorsman racks. |

Court, you'd need adapters to mount non-H&B cases to you rack. Here's some: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5 021/ To mount something like these: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productlist/7 08/ Pretty badass bags, but you'll have $800 in them. And we don't know if they work with the triple tail or not. |

...or you could go with a Hepco-Becker bag and just clip it right onto your existing racks...

After being and camping with the boy scouts, you learn that anything is possible. I buy gear that i hope can be passed down to my children. |

You can keep some of the off-spring. We are able to offer the original hardbags at something like 75% off retail tomorrow while supplies last. Unlike the Buell apparel offered to all H-D dealers with no advanced notice, we learned of this today and started calling all our Buell buyers. Orders will require credit card and may be subject to cancellation but at these prices, this Buell XB gear is a real bargain. Limited selections are available. Call your Buell dealer and see if he is supporting this. |

the advantage to the pelicans is that they will support the weight of the bike and not crush or crack when you dump. DAMHIK |

I have the Hepco bags so I don't think I can mount them like that.... |

A flat aluminum or plastic surface does work the best. Other solutions I've seen is strapping them to the inside of the pannier brackets with hose clamps and I think F_Skinner bolted one up on the underside of his license plate frame. All of these have been posted. You'll just have to search for them. |

Do not screw them into the frame at the front of the bike. |

Do all the Pelican top load cases require removing the grab handles and triple tail? |

You can get away with the smaller 1430's. They will open, but not all the way. In order to keep the triple tail with the 1440's, you would have to fabricate extensions to move the cases further away from the frame. The problem with this is that your rear end would be about 4 feet wide. If you want to keep the tail and want top loader cases, you're most likely going to have to get aluminum. I almost went with the Happy Trails, but didn't want to spend that much. I do like the "Canyon Cut" look and you can get them pretty big. Used sets show up once in a while on ebay and advrider. The Happy Trail mounts work very well on the Uly racks. |

Mark I'll be watching intently with how you choose to mount them! I'd love to pick a couple up. You think they'll fit on the back of the bags between the 'lip' of the clam shell and the rear signals?

That would be a good place. The turn signals may need to be moved. |

Itileman, I looked at the hardware I think you used to hold the cases on. So I assume you do not use the factory locks to hold it on, just those thumb screws and clamps (which I assume the thumb screws are on the inside of the case). Do you run with a padlock on yours? do the 1430's have more room then the stock XT side cases? |

Tow - the 1430's have less than half the room of the stock Uly/HB cases. They're about 16L. The 1440's are about 31L. Screws and release mechanisms are inside the case, use padlocks. The mounting system I used on the smaller 1430's was home made, much different than the H-T rig and moved the cases out a bit from the racks. |

Thanks. I wanted something just a little bigger then the stock cases, but top loading. What if you mounted the cases with the hinge on the outside, would they open then? wish there was something between the 1430's and 1440's |

No, the design of the Pelicans would preclude doing that. Bigger + Top Loading + Keeping the 3Tail = Aluminum. Keep an eye out on advrider for used ones. You may also want to consider a set of used Gobi's. Usually around $400 in good condition. Those will work with the stock Uly frames, only left is right, right is left to line up the locking mechanisms to the racks. |

I am going to try and mount my tool tubes here.

End to end, the tubes are 12" long. I'm guessing you will have an issue with the curvature of the bottom of the cases, but nothing that can't be solved by shimming. |

I used the 'tube' for a 33oz MSR bottle with fuel. Mounted between the side cases under the fender - attached to the luggage racks. You obviously have to remove a side case to get to the cap to remove bottle. @ about 12 mi / bottle - 2 bottles would be better. I'd photo the set up but removed the canister to do comfort kit. |

They'll fit on the inside of the saddlebag hoops? I didn't realize the hoops were that far away from the tire. |

Maybe leave the lids off and glue some model rockets inside them. Sure would back off the tail gaiters. now you showed me they fit i have to get some. I was thinking of maybe carrying water in one for camping. |
