So I was cruising down the interstate last night after dark, and I felt something slam into my helmet. I thought maybe I'd hit a bird or something. I took off my helmet at a gas station, and I didn't see any guts on it, so I figured it must've just been something thrown up from the road. Then I looked at my bike and though, "Wait a minute ... something's missing here." My zero gravity windshield was gone! The damn thing had flown off and hit me in the face! I never even saw it in the dark. I'm kind of miffed that I have to buy a new shield, but that is still pretty damn funny. So what's the best aftermarket windshield out there now? I'd like to get something adjustable that bolts firmly to the bike. |

Madstad or Palmer. I like the Madstad but you have to change the flyscreen to their aluminum one but then again, it's not going to go anywhere!! |

From a previous post: I have a cut down to 17" parabellum that I took off my Uly before I sold it. It worked well with the palmer brackets. It has two small holes for a brace before the palmer brackets where put on. I did a crappy job of cutting down the shield so I put a saeng edge around the shield. Looks professional. $60 and it's yours. Bob SOLD----SOLD---SOLD (Message edited by bienhoabob on November 23, 2009) |

Sounds like a good deal to me. Let me make sure I can find the Palmer brackets first, though. The web site's down right now. |

If you're going to go with another taller, stock-attaching-point windshield...get the updated ("recall") hardware. It replaces the bottom two pushpins with screw/washer/nut assemblies to prevent flyaways. |

Does the stock tall xt shield attach to the madstad mount and if so ,does it provide a adequate protection? |

yup and yup I really liked it with the addition of the memphis shades lowers, though. I also tried the cali- scientific shield I had and thought it was a bit better. You should look up Madstad and call. |

I always thought the plastic pins to rubber grommets way off attaching the stock screen was pretty weak and could potentially break or pull out from wind buffeting though I have never heard of it happening on the small screen. I removed the small screen and it seems like there is less wind noise now with just the fly screen. Does anyone think the small stock screen has any real benefit? If yes, how? Seems like a lot of people have had problems with the taller screen's blowing off. It's good they changed the way it's attached. Just think if you didn't have a helmet on Sanchez...Good to hear your ok. |

Sanchez, was this with my old flyscreen? I lost my stock short windshield once the same way, but I was doing 130mph |
