I was at a Biker's Bay yesterday with a buddy getting new tires mounted and was looking through a catalog for Drag Specialties, there was an ad for Goodyear belts and it mentioned that they were OEM for Buells. I didn't ask the desk guy about them at the time, but I figure there might be a source if HD loses interested in making money on parts for us.

The OEM belts are made by Goodyear on some years.

Tubers used the same belts as sportsters.

The belts on XBs are more critical since there is no adjustment in the axle.
This is one of those things that worry me about owning the XB12X for a long time.

Me too.
I guess the chain conversion is always an option. But to me, that's like having a Blood Hound de-barked.

I am not sure how you adjust a chain on a Uly?

It would be easy to make a solid rear axle with eccentrics to allow for chain adjustment. If I only had a lathe....and stuff...

Whoever makes the belt it's not HD, so there is a very good chance they will be available for some time. I was told today by two seperate dealers, there will be no more accessories but parts will be available for ten years in the UK. That is law in the motor industry in Europe.

You could do a chain conversion with a tensioner.A little fab work never hurt anyone!

You could . . . but I doubt, in my lifetime, anyone will ever have any problem getting a belt.

My thought was more about a member on my other post about my tall seat order being canceled. He mentioned his belt was backordered. Unless I am buying it as a spare, I would really like to have a belt available to purchase when/if it breaks. Hopefully it will only be changed as a precaution at higher mileage but the thought of being stranded with no replacement makes me want to drop the cash and order one or two.

my thoughts too, my Uly is not a month old yet ( well actually it's 18 months old but warrenty wise it's not ) but I'm thinking get one for just in case. It's not as if the XT doesn't have the space to carry a spare and i could fit it at the side of the road before a recovery truck got to me.

I just got one from American Sport bike...a BWB sponsor. Wanted a spare. Planning to at least bag it...maybe suck it down into a food saver.
