Ok - got the little dohickey (not to be confused with the KLR aftermarket part) to provide an indication of the Uly's malady, should, in the unlikely event, that ever be necessary. It plugs into diagnostic port. 1) anyone know where exactly that is ? 2) Then... when successfully docked to the mother ship - does one have to start the bike or just turn ign key to on position? what do the 2 hyphenated numbers mean ? (ie; 1-3 etc) Number of flashes the CEL makes in determining malfunction? This maybe a real handy tool - but American Sport Bike should perhaps consider a small instruction booklet to clarify procedure. Any help appreciated - not a tool i'm familiar with. thanks, j |

Get a manual, it should (and I'll doublecheck mine to be sure) have the code breakout listed. The connector is under the seat, left side, opposite the brake master cylinder. Kinda near the little "vent" that they offered the air deflector kit for. |

You'll want to plug the dongle in, and then turn the key on. You'll see blinking lights (engine light blinks) that indicate the trouble codes, separated by 6 (i think) flashes. ie. 6 blinks, then the trouble code will blink (2-1 = flash, flash, pause, flash, next code/repeat etc) indicating any codes. The dongle I have has the codes attached, and you can find them in the service manual, as well as on this forum somewhere. |
