Hey, this is the first time I have laughed since Black Thursday. Almost started crying when I came to response from Ronmold. I just threw all of my lip balm products in the trash can.

Get some chapstick and put it into a small glass of gasoline. See if the balm melts away and check out the plastic for softening. If the balm disappears and the plastic remains solid, do not worry about it. If the plastic gets soft, take the pump out.

Man, I feel for you, Ksc12c, and hope for nothing but the very best. I think Nobuell has a good suggestion but I really don't know. I'd probably opt to be sure and get it out of there. We're pulling for you.

A picture is worth thousand words or in this case laughs. Removed the Fuel Pump. It was lodged half way up the left hand side. I dislodged it with a coat hanger. One of the O-rings looks a little elongated so, I I'm going replace both of them and the filter too.

GREAT! Congratulations! Just curious, was the chapstick still there or had it dissolved? Very good news!

When I pulled off the cap. It pretty much dissolved in my hands.

Damnit all . . . . I was just pulling off my fuel tank and dropped it in my Chap-Stik tube . . now I've got troubles.

Seriously . . . I've caught myself coming back to this thread all day . . . . Buell owners are some of the most creative and innovative folks!

I'll sleep better with this having a happy ending!

glad it worked out for you, replace the o ring unless you enjoyed the process.
As Pso mentioned give the pump a good looking over for any chaffing i know there have been threads about it.
i personally think that carmex is a superior lip balm but i shou'nt say that as they ar'nt sponsors

+1 on BobB's suggestion!

FB had the pump replaced to the upgraded model on the Uly well before I bought it but I still found myself having to re-solder and heatshrink the internals. Also, stick to your plan and replace the O-rings and be certain to KY the snot out of the new ones on, umm, reinsertion. DAMHIK.

Good work, and good luck.

You could of just poured NOS energy drink in the tank and it would of dissolved the whole thing.

I still think I would have turned the bike upside down. It's all in the rigging.

I believe you did it the correct way. It would be a good idea to replace the pickup screen/filter also, you know, as long as you are there.

You have come up with a new product idea that I have never thought of before. A lip balm to help people quit smoking. It's flammable and potentially explosive! Most importantly.....if you use it correctly.....you only have to buy it once!

This could lead to other products, such as mustache fire blankets, mini pocket fire extinguishers, lip balm that actually soothes burns and sore lips!

That was too easy, how about dropping the ONLY key in the gas tank 3000 miles from home?

I heard on the CB radio about this young lady that hangs out at the truck stop. They say she can suck the sand out of cement, might try finding her. I think she charges about 10 bucks!!

does anybody know what truck stop this lady hangs out at? I didn't drop my chap stick in my gas tank, but I just might find another use for her services!

Cyclonedon, that's a true story. Back in the mid eighties I had a Jeep and a CB radio. I was on my way to work on midnight shift and heard these truck drivers talking about the young lady at the truck stop. One trucker was trying to get her down to 5 bucks for her services cause he thought ten was too much. One driver said that she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. Another piped in that she could suck start a Harley. The next one said she could suck start a Detroit diesel! The last gentleman claimed she could suck the sand out of cement!! The air waves went silent, nobody could top that one. I almost took the Jeep agricultural I was laughing so hard. I assume he reconsidered the ten dollar service fee.

At least tie the chap stick to your crossbar with a lanyard or something...
