I'm installing an ignition switched distribution block on my '09 xt and need to tap into a power lead that's only hot when the ignition is on. Does anyone have a wiring diagram, or know which wires carry juice to either the license plate lamp or one of the accessory outlets? Thanks!

The accessory outlets are ECM controlled on the 09's, so they aren't always hot even with the bike running.

Pop the fuse block off the under seat area, and tap into the brake light fuse.

What are you installing on this block? Might be better off doing a relay to trigger it but get juice from the battery.

Just wiring in my gps for now, but will be adding running lights and who knows what else in the future. I will be running off the battery with a relay trigger. Just needed to figure out which wire to tap for the trigger.

Ok good, you can tap off pretty much anything then for the relay signal. The accessory outlets get switched off if your voltage drops too low, so depending on your preference you might want to tap off that instead to prevent battery rundown.

Save yourself some time for the future and install a proper ground strap from the front of the frame and the metal instrument cluster housing.
I just spent two hours rewiring my driving light setup due to a popped ground.
By the way, I never figured out what ground was the culprit, I just installed a 10AWG over it.
I would have had to cut the whole damn harness open.
Ground is ground.

Froggy... why/how does the ECM control the Aux Power Outlets? Reason I ask is that my relay for the outlets quit(assumed)... Worries me now that the ECM is involved in that circuit.

I would have to look at the diagrams to see how it does it, but all I know is that it cuts power when either the kill switch is off or if the bike doesn't have enough power.

Thanks Froggy... I was thinking of installing an after market 30 amp relay on the auxiliary power outlets and bypassing the blown fuse terminal relay. I believe I will proceed if this isn't a crucial circuit to the ECM.

If you can wait 2 weeks I'll have my whole shebang posted.

Basically I'm installing this 4 circuit fuse block:

1 will be constant for the battery tender plug, the other 3 will be switched via a 40 amp relay and circuit breaker. The switched will power my running lights, HID headlight, and I'll have one open for future use, possibly fog lights.
