New 2009 uly owner here.

Is it normal for gas to drip from the black overflow tube behind the transmission after riding? It seems every time I stop, weather the fuel tank is full or empty, gas drips from this tube. Any idea where it is coming from?
I really need to get a manual. Thanks in advance for any insight or help.

Hmm. Good question. Mine dripped once after the first time I filled up. All the way to the rim! Bad idea! Don't do that.

No. Certainly not normal for gas to drip! It will drip if you overfill, above the lower lip, due to expansion. However, if your gas level is below the lower lip inside the gas 'hole', and drips, I'd get it checked asap.

Yes it is normal. It happens if you overfill like everyone said but due to the heat. (the motor is in between the gas tank) The heat will cause pressure to build. Some do it and some do not. Mine use to but it got better as I put miles on it. I modified the pressure valve in order to fix it. Looks like I will be doing the same mod to the 1125.

Check with F_skinner on here. I think he may have had that problem earlier this year. Not sure how or if it got resolved.

I would be interested in your modification, as I have the same problem, normally when tank is low, but somewhat random times.

Thanks for the reply's. I guess I will have them look at it during the 1000 mile service but it sounds like I'm going to get the patented "Its normal, nothing to worry about" response from the dealer.

I will make a point to take some pics but I can tell you what I think and what I did.

It is obvious that a lot of pressure is building up, the bikes run lean. Running lean makes for a hotter motor. If you get done with a ride and take the gas cap off it will not drip because there is no pressure. It does not drip while riding either because it is cooler (air flow) and the fuel pump is pressurizing the tank to some extent. That being said it is my opinion the opening on top of the pressure valve is too small as well as the hose.

I took the pressure valve and drilled (carefully) the opening up a bit and routed a larger diameter hose. I also drilled the opening at the bottom of the valve slightly. You need to be real careful because the brass ball sits on the bottom. When the pressure builds the brass ball rises and triggers the valve opening (it is a little plastic shaft with a spring).

I also drilled holes around the sides of the valve itself but I doubt that has any effect. I have also noticed that there are two different sizes of pressure valves and they both fit all bikes. One is a little shorter in length but after trying both there is no difference in effect.

Mine will drip a little if I am close to empty so if yours is doing that only when close to empty Dennis I would not worry about it.

Here are the things I would try first and are in the reverse order I did them.

1. Drill the top valve opening and run a larger hose.
2. Drill the bottom of the valve (be careful)
3. Drill holes on the side of the valve.

DO NOT do anything that relieves the pressure completely as pressure in the gas tank is required.

I hope this helps and I think it will work with the 1125 as well but I have not looked at it to see if it is the same. I will take pics when I do the 1125. It drips a little more than the Uly but not much. I will most likely wait until I have a few miles on it first.

Tastroman, I will bet money your dealer does not say it is normal. They will most likely say they never heard of that problem.

Tastroman, put some miles on that bike. I think I have said it before but I did not feel like it was broken in until I had about 5K to 7K on the clock. I bought the bike Jan of this year and have 12K on it. It just keeps getting better.

The gas drip is a small thing, do not worry too much about it.
