Byrdock...so you are not sitting on the seams that run parallel with the seat? Or they don't...they run a seam across like the low seat? I have a Corbin seat I am not using (came with my 09 for extra $300 and was brand new). Anyone want it? No slide issues as it is flat...and low. Pay shipping plus the $300.

'06 seat is more comfortable if you are tall enough for it.

Taint if you ain't.

DD, I am 5' 9" and the stock '06 tall seat is perfect for me. I grew up riding tall dirt bikes though.

My only complaint about the '06 seat is the seams. The seems can dig into your legs after days in the saddle. Solved this with a sheepskin of my own design that covers the seams. Even gave me a little more height.

Byrdock,
Post a photo of that updated tall seat if you are able. Thanks.

I don't have a way to post a pic yet but if you have an 07 or up Uly, the new tall seat cover looks just like the one that comes on the bike stock. Seams run from side to side between rider and passenger, and a small seam near the air cover. It looks just like the factory seat, that's why I sent the first one back, thought they sent the wrong seat.

That sounds nice. I have a new tall seat sitting in a box with only a couple hundred miles on it. I couldn't get past the seams and the soft foam.
I put the stock seat back on and put on some PE 2" drop pegs and all is good for my knees now.

I have the stock 06 seat on mine. I love it...but a few 500+ mile days this weekend showed me that either a) I need more ass, or b) I need to do something towards the rear of the rider area, running across the seat. It feels like there's a stripe running across the top of my cheeks. The fore and aft seams were fine, and I had plenty of room to move around...but a couple hundred miles in that back section would start to hurt. It's probably because I'm still underweight, and I do need to HTFU...but I'm thinking of trying a Coleman camping pillow (memory foam; $6) to see if it helps. If it does...might be time for surgery on the seat : )

OK, I'm still trying to figure out this whole seat thing.

First, the 06 seat was what I needed, now, it sounds like there are issues with seams on the 06 seat?!

07+ Tall seat is supposedly the same guts as the 06 seat (which is supposed to be the most comfortable other than the seams), and, is available from the dealer for the paltry sum of $111. Do I have all this figured correctly? Should I just get the 07 tall seat from my dealer and move on with my life?

Personally rate the 06 tall in the 'most comfortable' category.

They are as good as any for me. All day excellent.

The shorties are OK, but not as comfortable after 250 miles and they get hotter.

I think the 06 regular seat is the most comfy for long days in the saddle-I don't notice the seams at all. I DO have the stock seat on my 09 that I use for putting around town and the like-it makes it easier to get the feet down at stops. But the 09 seat comes off for long trips-the 06 is the bee's knees.

The tall 06 seat is comfy but the seams and the cloth that covers the riders area are problems for me. The new tall seat is shaped the same with out the seams and cloth. I rode in the rain for 5 hours straight and for the next three days I got a wet ass even though it was dry. By the forth day it had finally dried out. I may get the new tall seat for that reason alone.

Get a New Zealand sheep pelt. When it gets wet you just snap it like a rug and all the water flies off like a dog.

Well...I figured the new high seat did not have the seams like the high 06 and ordered one for $99 plus $10 shipping. Such a deal! I have a new Corbin low black that sits flatter than the low Buell. $300 plus ship.

Road Kill had the new tall seat in Suches. I sat on it and liked it a lot. 99 bucks is awesome!

"b) I need to do something towards the rear of the rider area, running across the seat."

I removed the cover of the 06 seat and using a small grinder and some coarse sand paper and moved that ridge back about an inch then re installed the seat cover.

I am tall enough that the seam on the seat is not a problem. I did find that the seam on my normal jockey shorts was. Changed to long legged jockey shorts or boxers.

I want the high seat for my 07, but I want seat with the yellow on the back. Buell Parts shows this as N0025.1AKAYCE, but the picture shows the seam lines running up between your legs. Can anybody verify the new yellow seat does not have the front to back seams?

would my 09 seat cover fit on an 06 seat? How wonky would it be?

Jim, I think you would have an excess in material at the rear of the riders position because of the shallower contour of the '06 seat. The seam could be ripped out, and the excess material cut out and then stitched back up.

I have had the stock 2009 seat and the lower gel seat on my Uly. Although I could do 600 mile days I felt it. The only reason I got the gel seat was because it was somewhat lower but I liked the feel of it.

With the stock seat I would feel uncomfortable at about 50 miles unless I moved a bit. With the lower gel seat I doubled that at 100 miles. After a hundred miles I was looking for a place to pull over.

I just put a new seat on the Uly and took her out for a 160 mile ride. I wanted to ride while it is in the 50s so I did a little loop that was 160 miles from work to home. I filled up and kept going. Incredible! I did not stop or move around in the seat that much and a plus is the seat is slightly lower than the Buell "low" seat so I can reach the ground a little better. Not flat footed but close.

This is the second seat I have had Loren (Gowindward) make for me and I can see a couple more coming his way.

I do not know what is different in how he does it but figured it was the memory foam and gel because the seat molds to my back side and just fits perfect.

The stitching and fit is top notch. I had to be forceful to get the seat to lock in the latch (the material is thicker) but I had to do the same thing with the Buell gel seat when it was new. Once it had a few miles on it, it pops on and off with ease.

I will post a pic soon.

Update: The new tall seat (99bucks) came and it had the long seams running with the seat...like the original tall. I sat on it for a long time today...I think it is going to be ok. Only real saddle time will tell. I am leaning over a little farther...funny how things change other things...the windshield view needs adjustment. But I like the "deepness" of the seat. Make sense? I can tell there is comfort there. Still have that flat low Corbin (new) for $300 bucks (like $450 new). It is comfortable...just too short for me.

As promised pictures of my Baldwin seat.

I cannot say enough about this seat. I have used corbins for many years with different level of success. I have found that their quality control in recent years is somewhat lacking.

Does look like my Corbin which is quite well done. It has a flatter butt spot than the low OEM. This is good for not sliding forward. Same as Corbin. How much is a Baldwin? I think this Corbin I have (for sale) was like $425 or so...
