The right side rear wheel bearing on my 06 Uly spit itself out!! I believe it was an original bearing, don't know as I just got the bike.

bummer .. not to bad though, mine only lasted 5K. Might be a good time to get a '10 wheel with the triple bearing. Otherwise just get some new bearings pressed in there. BTW .. congrats on the Uly .. great bike for two up riding and just about any other kind of riding.

If the bearing didn't damage the axle or anything else, I would suggest just having the new black bearings installed.
The first "bad" bearings lasted 45,000, right?

How well are the blacks holding up? I just had new blacks pressed into my wheel, and w/Halrey doing what they did to Buell thinking of going to new rear wheel.

We've had at least a couple of failures reported here with the black bearings. I went ahead and updated to the 2010 wheel and axle this past weekend. Of course, when I removed the old wheel the Koyo bearings I'd replaced my originals with (at the 8000 mile mark) were still silky smooth with ~14,000 miles on them (22,000 on the bike).

I was only a few miles from home... The wife came and got me with the truck.

I'll get the new bearings in, new tires and a new belt (preventative) on by the weekend if all goes well!!

Went out to the garage and looked at the bike after the ride to and from East Troy.
A large part of it was in the rain on the way home.....

What did I see??? RUST! streaks of rust coming from the center of the front wheel on the right side....

Time to order a new set of Koyo's

Good news: Went to the dealer and got new Scorp Syncs and front wheel bearings.

Bad News: They didn't have rear bearings.

Good news: I located rear bearings locally from a bearing shop

Bad news: on the rear wheel, the bearing that went bad left the race in the wheel. I have tried everything trying to get it out, but the dayum thing is stuck like chuck!! So......

Take it to a machinist. They'll be able to get it out without boogering the wheel.

Edit- IIRC someone's posted here that if you strike an arc on the inside of the inner race with a stick welder, the heat will distort the race, pulling it inward at that point which will allow it to pop right now.

Paint, Try heating the hub around the race with a heat gun. Put crushed ice in a zip lock bag, enough to set the bag in the center of the bearing race, cool the race and see if it can be tapped out from the back side with a long bar. With enough heat differential it should come out pretty easy.

Ended up welding a rod to the race and tapping it out from the opposite end. Even though we cut the rod to fit in the groove of the race, we had to weld it in place 3 times, as it kept seperating from the race!!

I am back in business.... Oil change very soon. Switching to AMsoil.
