So this really has me wondering as Im sure others out there may be too.

So the comfort kit is an accessory and accessories are only available "while supplies last"

BUT

The comfort kit (looking at the pictures on Buells website) somes stock on the 2010 models.

So am I assuming correctly that the "kit" may sell off, but shouldnt you be able to still order the individual parts since it is an OEM part on the 2010 models?

Of course there are many more items like this as well....The 2up TT seat "kit", the outdoorsman bags (stock on the xb12xp model), heated handgrips you get the idea....

Anyone have any insight?

Most of the parts of these kits are available and will continue to be available. A lot of accessories come with parts that were never individually available anyway.

Its too early to worry about this stuff anyway.

Yeah I know its too early to worry about this stuff, but if I didnt worry about this stuff then I might be inclined to worry about something stupid like the swine flu pandemic

H-D should drop-ship all remaining stocks of accessories to all the folks who recently paid full price for their Uly's.

IMHO, -Nadz

i think the comfort kit should be done on a recall, its obvious by the fact that they made the kit at all, that the bikes made an excessive amount of heat.

ditto with the rear bearings, they made a whole different wheel and axle hmmmm.

i still owe more on my 08 than what the 2010's are selling for WITH these issues attended to.

It is because of comments like that, many companies don't acknowledge issues and then do not upgrade products.

I owe more on my 09 CR than people are able to buy new bikes for. Do I care? No, in fact I joined them and got a 08.

U da frog, Froggy! As you all know, I just bought my son a used 2007 with hard bags just 6 days before the terrible news. Probably could of gotten it for a grand less if my timing were better but that is the way the cookie crumbles. He just loves his ULY. Now he spends more time lurking this site and doing searches than I do.

Rear bearings/wheel, maybe. The comfort kit, I just call that an improvement for the new model year. Just my $0.02. I have since the announcement ordered the comfort kit, and making a list of other "spare" parts to stock.

Still can't decide on the hard cases myself. I like the how the outdoorsman cases look a lot more than the original cases, but like the volume of the originals. I did find that Hepco-Becker makes larger side cases in the outdoorsman style, but they won't sell the mounts for the Buells. So I'm hoping, with Buell no longer selling them, maybe Hepco Becker will start selling the mounts for the Uly. This may be wishful thinking, but for now I'll just be sticking to my soft bags. Maybe I should start another thread?

It will cost you more, but you can buy the racks at your dealer and then buy the cases elsewhere.

Let me know how that works out . . . I know a lot of Porsche owners who would like to demand Porsche upgrade their Tiptronics to Doppelkupplungsgetriebe.

It's obvious . . . since they developed it anyway.

I'd also like Ford to bring my 2006 F-150 up to date.

He'll have to update it to a F250/350. Powerstroke Diesel going into "regen" mode to clear soot.
I always wondered what would happen or if you could start "regen" in a Toll Booth.

So what...product refinement automatically qualifies as a recall, just because it's "better"?

Get real.

If that was the case, we'd still be driving Model T Fords; there would have been NO improvement over the years in the name of a better product. All our horseless carriages would still have oak wheels and solid tires and spark advance on a hand lever.

The wheelbearings are a gray area...they could be construed as a safety item, but I still don't think the issue was pervasive enough to justify recall status. But the comfort kit? Not a chance. Simple refinement, that's all it is.

As for availability...I strongly suspect that anything OEM (i.e. comfort kit components) will be available for years through the HD commitment. Things like accessory touring seats....I think they may fall by the wayside sooner rather than later, but anything OEM will be with us for a while.

In answer to the op's original question, I just checked with my local dealer and he can't order the separate part numbers for the comfort kit, just the entire kit.

Ok I have the same parts list from my original kit. I didn't want to mention this but I cracked (badly) my inner shroud trying the short cut install.

So I called my dealer and I give him the part numbers from that list and he tells me he can't get them. Just the kit.
If this is wrong I need to know as I just ordered another kit.

I don't mind ordering it from the US and paying for shipping if its cheaper.

Can you confirm that the individual parts are avialable (not just on a parts list)
Thanks

So what's the deal with this "comfort kit" ? Is it just a RSS ? How much does it cost ? As it stands I have 5 XB's and only two RSS's. I can't afford three of the fiberglass or CF aftermarket ones. I should come by here more often.

Pete, contact Chris at Liberty Harley, he should be able to set you up. I see all the parts available on the internet, but I am not a dealer so I cant see the back end.

Skin, I will PM you and get you up to speed

Thanks that sounds great, I was going to pay 160 CA for the entire kit.
Now some really gritty details, does this price include the foam strip and clip as they each have separate part numbers.

My Comfort Kit had the foam strip and clip already installed on the inside shroud.

That kit fits any of the Ulys '06 to '09. We had three Ulys, an '06, '07, and '09 all putting on the kit at my house recently. We all bought the same kit.

An Update.
I called Liberty HD in Jersey and they told me yes they could order the Fan Shroud and foam strip separately
21 bucks for the shroud and 1.50 for the strip. So I'm sending an e-mail to them asking for a pay pal invoice
I'll let you know how it goes.
It's going to be a lot cheaper than $160 bucks for the entire kit. Thank You Froggy

That kit is for 06-09 X and XT without a catalyst. Not for XP and not for some euro models. The part numbers for the other kits are on Buell.com

A note - the ONLY difference in the XP kit is a cutout in the RSS. You only need that if you are running a siren. If you have a de-fleeted XP - in other words, an X - you are fine with the "regular" X/XT kit. There is a SMALL notch you have to make in the inner scoop to clear the tab welded to the frame for the siren support...but you can use the OEM scoop as a template.
