Just picked myself up off the floor after talking to my Insurance agent. Shocking spike in premium after adding the XB12 XT. Over double the price of coverage of my XB9SX.

When I was pricing Triumph Tigers, My policy would have jumped $75.00 year to add it. What gives?

Make sure they are classifying it correctly as a sport tourer or dual sport NOT a sportbike. Simple call after I got my XT lowered my rate a bunch.

Make sure to keep the bags on too if the ins. company comes to look at it or needs pictures.

hey fltwistygirl, i called over to seminole and asked about a firebolt and at first he gave me a 6100 otd price then he called back and said he made a mistake that it would be 7300, how much did you save on the xt if you don't mind me asking. i tried to get him to come down but he said he didn't have anything else to take off.

Mine is almost 5X what my Honda Magna was. They classified it as a 1200cc sport bike. How did you get them to classify yours as a touring bike?

My insurance company also classified my XT as a touring bike. it really brings the rate down. Show them the sales info, and they will see it has bags, (hence, "touring"). It worked for me. They were not even going to insure it before that, "Buell, is a sportbike". Insurance people, ya gotta love em.

Neverenuf-
9K OTD for 09XT. You might have better luck visiting in person. The general vibe in the dealership was "get those Buells outta here!"

Rexter-
We went thru the person that owns the agency, and explained it was a touring model, not something we were planning to race. We were prepared to bring it to her office if she wanted to see it up close n personal with those bags.

My whole family is lovin' this bike!

I'm paying $480 a year through State Farm and my bike is classified as a dual sport. Have $250 deductible and coverage if I go down and miss work my wages are covered

Progressive Insurance will most likely be the cheapest motorcycle insurance you will find. If you belong to H.O.G. you will get a discount. If you've completed the MSF course you will get a discount. If you are a home owner you will get a discount. My insurance is $95 a year, full coverage, maximum amounts ($500,000). As my better half twisty stated we informed our agent that there was an error classification. The V.I.N. did not match anything in companies database so our agent was able to give it a touring classification on my suggestion. rate is now 198 per year with all of associated discounts. Take an MSF class if you haven't as it saves you money with most companies.
