Is there any legal requirement for manufacturer to supply parts? If so how long? Pontiac, etc, are a little different, all of the working parts are shared by something else and there's lots of them out there. I could see that drive belt getting a little scarce pretty quickly. | ||

Man, I've gone through a lot of bikes looking for the perfect bike and I found it in my 06 Uly. I'm deeply saddened by this news but also feel so very fortunate to have the bike I have. I would not trade it for any other bike on the planet. Not one. | ||

There should be full parts support for seven years including body parts, then hard part support for another three years, then it's the aftermarket. There might be general info on the Federal Trade Commission website. We've got five Buells in our garage and will keep them as long as possible. Really sucks - I work for HD and I will never buy one of their bikes. We should give it a few days/weeks and see what happens. | ||

WTF!! Dang!!! I get on a plane land in a sandy country to find out my beloved AMERICAN sportbike company is no longer making bikes!!! This is not how I wanted to start a deployment. Hopefully by the time I get back I can purchase a "new" Buell not associated with the current parent company that halted its production. I'm sorry for Eric and all the folks in E Troy that worked so hard to give us a chance at owning / riding the most fun motorcycle I've ever had. The Uly will remain part of the family for many years to come - my granddaughter will inherit it...though she may NOT want granpa's stinky old riding gear. On a side note: whats with the Obama bashing ?? How is that remotely relevant to HD closing down Buell production? It's a rhetorical question BTW. | ||

"" The greatest loss here, IMHO, are Buell's workers without jobs - passionate folks making a great product, now out of work. That's a shame. Erik may be upset and distraught by all of this, I sure would be in those shoes, but I'm sure he's sitting on a lot of HD stock (and prior bonuses) from the acquisition. So he doesn't need to go find a job to put food on the table. When it's all said and done, these bikes are simply so many toys we own - it's the workers, that my heart goes out to. . | ||

I think the Obama bashing was just based on two great disappointments in life...end of Buell and a commie president. I think he was just airing his feelings of tragedy and they were linked...not realizing both can be changed. :-) | ||

I have owned H-D's for over 10 years and still have one. I am on my 2d Buell (ULY) and LOVE it! I ride my 06 Buell more than my $$ 08 H-D. Based on today I'm not planning repeat business with H-D. I sure hope Erik can keep building those fantastic machines otherwise I'll just keep the ULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel very sorry for Erik and the entire Buell staff as I have attended the homecoming a couple times and they are some of the nicest, most dedicated workers I have met! | ||

There is so much blame on both sides of the aisle. Congress was the one forcing the banks to make bad loans and then telling us everything's rosy, until it blew up in their face. If you're PO'd then call your Senators and Congressman and bitch at them! Lots of emotion on here throughout the day. I was first just sick and then angry but Court seems to know something so I'll just wait and see how it all turns out. | ||

I think our used Buells will be a premium in the not too distant future. They will hold value just on their inherent coolness. There IS a demand for this bike. No new ones (for now) being made will affect supply and demand. Parts will be around a long time. Everybody wants to sell what sells...so hang on. Buy some new ones with $3K off...you won't be making a mistake. | ||

Pretty bummed for all the Buell workers today. I love the bikes, and hope Erik gets out from under the HD cloud that doesn't have an idea about what they had. Keep riding and representing what Erik Buell gave us. As for the Obama bashers, thank Bush for this. GW would be riding a Chinese "commie" rocket, while Obama would tearing it up on a Uly trying to save American jobs.... | ||

On that note, I think it'd be a great idea to have a group of people ride their Buells to the plant at East Troy (before they shut it down) as a last show of support for the man, the people, and the bike. Can this be done prior to the end of October?.......Anybody up for this? |
