Came home wanting to share my thoughts with you all about my new (to me) '08 XB12XT, and I read the devastating news of the closing. Wind now completely out of my sails, I still need to know where to get a good remap -- this thing is crazy lean below 2500rpm or so. BIG flat spot down where this thing should grunt like a diesel. Yes, I tried the search function, but my normally sharp searching skills are just not up to it right now. I need a drink...

Congrats on your purchase. The only place you can get a remap for an 08 is the dealer. The latest maps for the 08-up's seem to be a noticeable improvement based on reports here.

I'm going to need something specific to ask for if anyone can provide such information -- this dealer is just not terribly "up" on us. They do have a boatload of 1125's, though. May have to grab one in the sell-off...

Basically all the tech has to do is hook your bike up to their diagnostic equipment; it verifies whether or not your ECM has the latest flash. If not, it instructs him to download it to the ECM.

Somebody may be able to supply you with a specific number for the latest ECM update.

I'm scheduled for a Thursday morning meet at a local dealer. I'll report the results then. In the meantime, the more I ride it, the more I like it, even though I'm convinced at this point that my '03 XB9S would leave it for dead in a drag race...

Well your 9 has shorter gearing, less weight, and less aerodynamic drag, and is broken in, so it wouldn't surprise me either.

Jsg4dfan - I did a self install on a comfort kit for my '08 XT, next day took it to the dealer and they did the new ECM up date free of charge. not sure the reason they didn't charge me because i didn't buy the kit from them. My guess is that they did it under the warranty. BTW - the latest flash is the same with or without the comfort kit. Highly recommend the comfort kit.

I got the latest flash on friday for my brand new 09 XT. Also ordered the comfort kit, but it hasn't arrived yet. Being my first XB, I don't really have anything to compare this one to, but the fan seems to kick on and off at some strange times?

It's almost always running while the bike is moving, but when I slow down to about 10-15 mph it shuts off, and has never kicked on after shutting the bike off like I've heard a lot of other XBs do. Of course the weather here has been 50s and 60s and I haven't seen anything north of 4k on the tach, so it's probably not getting hot enough to need the fan much.

Is it on all of the time while I'm moving just because of the latest "comfort" flash? I haven't read into details of the flash that goes along with the kit, but it would make sense that the fan kicks on to remove heat from the right leg and underseat area.

Phillip- That's how it's supposed to work after the re-flash. Fan operation is dependent both on engine temperature and bike speed.

Jsg4dfan, how it perform in low RPM now? My new 08 XB12X has no power at all below 2500 and I was waiting the 1.600km revision to check on this.

I did the forced TPS reset this morning and it made a BIG difference (before going to the dealer):

It was a little more difficult to discern a difference after the mapping, but I can tell you with no doubts at all that after both I'm riding a different bike now. It's MUCH better below 2500. MUCH.
