I agree. This makes planed trips next summer a different consideration. However, there are many bikes HD does not currently make over the years. Are there problems getting parts for those bikes? If HD continues suppling parts, hopefully it should be no different. I would be interested to determine the actual law regarding discontinuing a model and parts availability. Now I am the proud owner of a discontinued Buell, 2 Pontiacs and 1 Oldsmobile. It really sucks when a person tries to buy american and gets tossed out with the wash. |

My dealer is sitting in an 09 X and XT. Today he said $1000 off list. After I told him I saw the news he said "how much will you give me for it?". If the prices drop by 2/3rds I could see buying a new one and keep my 07 as a parts bike . But I figure he will put them in his museum before taking that much hit on price. |

Took me 38 years to find a bike that I really care about and will keep for a LONG time. Hope parts will be available for a while 'cause I certainly won't be replacing this bike 'till the wheels literally fall off the thing. Harley-Davidson doesn't make anything I'd be interested in, so won't be looking there...........maybe Guzzi or a Duc when the time comes...... |

And to think that I just bought that 07 for my son just 6 days before Buell Armageddon. I'm not mad about buying the Buell, just p.off about my impeccable timing. My Buell dealer is sitting on around 30 Buells. Well, us Buellers either can think that we are stuck or we can UNDERSTAND that we now own a collector's item. In the overall scheme of things, Buells are pretty much as rare as hen's teeth. I really can't see our Buells appreciating in value in the short term but I can see them becoming something of a sought after brand in the years to come. |

I'm on my way to HD to order the Hero Blue parts for my Uly before it's too late. I guess I understand HD's position. I think they are in survival mode like everyone else, and are doing what they think is needed to be around in the future. Usually when one door closes, another one opens. Perhaps this is Erik Buell's time to move forward. |

Its funny as a long time Guzzi owner it was a toss up between the Uly and the Breva 1100. I like the Uly better and figured Buell had a better chance of being around 10 years from now then Guzzi does. Oh well, maybe I'll pick up a used one cheap for parts down the road. |

I am speechless. After months of searching and researching i decided to go with a Buell for my American transcontinental documentary that i am putting together. Buell was perfect in every way and i feel that it still is. It embodies everything American and you can feel it in the spirit of the company and its bikes, in the words of it's creator and the passion of it's riders. We will endeavor through this. Now, more than ever i want to ride this Buell across every country in the Americas and show what it's made of, of what were made of. What happens now is a direct reflection of the fortitude of America and its plight against corporations where numbers are more important than feeling, than soul. My first thought is how to save the company... to support the possibility of a new independence. Can we begin to raise money so that Buell can continue in a new capacity? the misers, this is an AMAZING machine and ill be damned if i give up on it now. |

With HD owning 51 percent Erik doesn't have much say. The truth is that the Buell we love today would not be here if it wasn't for the MoCo. Erik needed the cash influx of HD to continue or this would of happened many years ago. It's still sad that most of the dealers hid them in the corner. I would love to see Erik join up with someone else but I think his hands are tied since he doesn't have controlling interest. Time will tell. |

Why??? Buell is UP AND COMING!! I am dumbfounded... shocked and angry. Very bad decision imho. Does E.B. have his hands tied and cannot continue on his own? I hope he can eventually continue building/designing using his name. It can't be 100% completely and utterly over for BMC!! Where the hell are those freaking bailouts? QUICK: Everyone play the powerball give BMC a large chunk. |

Yeah - my 08 uly will outlast me. If anything I have more of an affinity for it now than before. I like 'orphans' and she will always have a 'home' in the garage. (Only because my wife won't let me bring it into the bed or bedroom...the foot pegs poke her in the back & disturb her slumber) |

Sad, Sad news. Though I traded my Uly in for a smaller dual sport bike about a year ago, I liked it a lot and always said I'd have a another one some day. I guess maybe I still will but it will be used. I wonder if there are about to be some used police models available too? (Message edited by miamiuly on October 15, 2009) |

I was waiting until the 2010 XT's got to my dealership to trade in the Road King, not sure what I'm going to do now. I think this is a big mistake by the MoCo, the HD brand in my opinion needs an alternative to the Vtwin tractors they have been making for years. By the way I just checked the closest dealer and they have a 2010 X for 7,999. |

I'm in the same boat as nobuell: a Buell (my third) and 2 Pontiacs (of many)- nearly bought a Saturn last month, as well. Sure makes one proud to "Buy American"... I truly hope this isn't the end for Buell |

This is very bad and sad news. Erik is passionate about his Buells and so are most of us that own one. I just hope that he will be able to continue the making and growing the brand in some manner. |

was getting kinda of worried here after reading about Buell being discontinued. I was worried that I was gonna pull my 08X out of the garage and it wouldn't start. Turns out that it did start this morning and took me to work. Funny thing, my 08X has 20k miles on it in just 13 months. Since Buell being discontinued has nothing to do with my 08X starting in the morning and taking me to work I'm pretty sure that I'll put another 20k miles on it for the next 13 months. ps. have you noticed how good these bikes ride? |

""This is very bad and sad news. Erik is passionate about his Buells ...(etc)"" +1 But this is what happens when you sell your soul to the devil - on one hand you get more cash to do some of things you want... on the other, you lose control of your destiny. . |

This is nuts. I'm nearly heartbroken. My only hope is that they find outside funding and get things rolling again in the next year or so. Buell is a great company that made amazing motorcycles. Sidenote: I called my local Buell dealer and they now have some "pretty good incentives" on Buell's. |

I've just seen pics of mine, my 09 XT was just delivered to the house last monday, I'm still in Iraq until December. Oh well, I'll come home to something that's even more unique than it was when I bought it!! I'm all about different and there's not any other blue Uly's tooling around Fairbanks, looks like I'll have the only one for a while!! |

Well...we are all committed now. When our bikes had resale value we could consider opting out...not now. We are married for life to ride these Uly's til we can't. Thank God they are great bikes. Hate to be married to a junker. Our riding and using them will keep a parts market alive. That will cause someone to think about underwriting Eric on a new adventure. Keep faith. If there is money to be made...and some ingenious American understands the real market instead of the BS crap HD's marketing tried to invent for Buell...cash will flow again. I believe there is a market and $ to be made as most of you do...so have faith in American capitalism. Got us right through Y2K remember? Pulling us out of the incredible real estate bust of last year...best to keep riding. I am planning to hang out in AZ this winter burning the roads when I get offline...on my Uly. |

America's loss. This is the most amazing bike I have ever owned. I am appalled at the corporate decision making. Crush Erik's dream. I was going to get a Harley as a second bike, but now I will move on. Erik.... Thank-you for my machine. You and your team are truly what America is about. NOT corporate greed, but true vision and dedication to a dream. |

I don't quite understand something. Many here theorized, or boasted with malice and forethought how Buell would be better served out from under the Motor Company's rule, its products sold & serviced separate from Harley dealerships. Isn;t this what you asked for? Personally I think it sucks. After winning a National AMA championship I looked forward to some new models and continued improvements to the most fun to ride motorcycles being made today. |

Bad news! I love my Uly and will keep it for many more years! Best of luck to the employees. I'm sure Erik will persevere. I think this is an opportunity for BMC, here's to the future! Tim |
