That would have been funny except that I read about Buell closing it's doors before I got here. I'm just sick. The people that have taken over Harley are really stupid. Why would you buy MV Agusta in this economic crisis? Idiots. They've cheapened there own motorcyles to the point I won't buy a new one. It would never survive the miles I put on a bike. Most of their customers ride 2000 miles a year so they build their bikes to do that. Sorry, I'm pissed and I'm ranting. I'll shut up now.

Something the adults never knew.....the kids table was always the best spot to be. Where else could you plot against them while they are thinking about how innocent and cute you are!
Seems like most Buell enthusiasts are stuck between the kids table and the adult table. Cool thing is, we have access to both! |

Well I went out and worked on the Uly anyway, nothing I can do about the MOCO's decision. I opened up the instrument cluster and thanks to glenn who showed me the thread by Sleez I saved a lot of time figuring out how the switch worked and where to solder my wire to. I took off the back of the cluster to get to the circuit board:
Here's where the wires go:
Since I was only doing the toggle button my two wire lead would fit easily out the connector hole. Sleez used a four wire lead that was too thick to fit but he set up two buttons on the handlebars.
Now I'm going to get a nice water resistant two prong connector and finish up the wiring. I still wanted to be able to remove the cluster without cutting a wire. Well, little brother just called wanting to know if I was hungry for some mex and a margarita? Stupid question! After today's bombshell, I could use a drink! |

Well the only two prong connector Radio Shack had was not water proof but then I started thinking about the rest of the connectors under there and they aren't water proof either so I bought it. I got everything put together and it works great. Like I said, it's not a hard job, just a little time consuming. One thing I don't think I mentioned before is in order to get to the splices in the loom you must pull the switch gear off the bars and take a screw out of a small plastic piece that is holding the loom at the switch end. Then you need to cut the thin wire tie so you can get to the wire crimps. Don't forget to put this small piece back in. I thought I was done and then saw it sitting there and had to take it back apart. Oh well, works great, I'm glad I did it. |

Years ago a fellow machinist and I collaborated on designing a cleaning cam for a beer filler. We designed, fabricated and installed it and it worked. Jokingly, on one of the parts we wrote; Manufactured by Barstool Brainstorms Incorporated.

I saw that New Belgium and it elicited a very Pavlovian response. First thought was .. should have brought the good stuff. Have some in the fridge now.
wow .. what a week. First thought was to be very pissed off but now I'm with court .. something better will come from this.
Tootal .. or two.till great idea , I'll copy it as soon as I get some cold weather gear and a few day's of down time. Don't want to open the bike up just now, though I may have to as I have CSD ( Clutch sounds like a Duck ) syndrome.
Double PITA ... no, can't be. I love steak.
They have some cool ad's though. Oh wait that's PETA .. never mind.
Sheesh .. may have to wash the bike some time soon ( ever ) now that it's a classic. |

Hi,
I mentioned the other day that I also did the remote operation change but put a switch inside of my hand guard. I took a few pictures this morning.
When I was inside of the panel I also installed an LED voltmeter. I ran all of my wiring out trough the LED boss. See Ft_bstrd"s instruction link for more:

Nice setup Glenn. I Like FB's meter too. I had not seen that before and I've already put an external one on so to late now. Here's the one I have:
It seems to be working well. I did like your way of doing the lights but I really don't want to have to go back and switch those pins again!! The bike starts fine but if I'm in the neighborhood of the headlights again I may do it your way, it makes more sense. Thanks for sharing the info, that's what I like about this board, you give and you take, all is good!
On another note, I wanted to thank Thrux181 and Bonnie for supplying the early supply of beer since I showed up dry trying to beat the rain. I was successful but dry on two accounts! One good, one bad! Thanks for sharing boys!
