We got my son, Sage, an 07' ULY today with full Outdoorsman bags from the local dealer. Had them throw in a comfort kit and the 07 service manual. Warranty still good until April 2010. $7000, but I still have to pay the state and local taxes which is another $490. Turns out, and maybe I'm the last to know, but the large Buell side cases from my bike fit the Outdoorsman framework. And the Outdoorsman side cases fit my bike but bend the turn sigals a bit. So all a person would have to do is move the signals just like on my son's 07' and then either bags would fit, no big deal at all. That Outdoorman top case will not fit my boy's Nolan flip-up helmet because it is maybe an inch taller when set on it's side than our other full face helmets. So I traded him for the Outdoorsman top case and it's now on my 06' and he's got the my topcase on his 07'. We went for a 40 mile jaunt this late afternoon and I noticed his fan come on after some time (his comfort kit is on order) and my fan never came on until we shut them both down in our garage. I then quickly screwed in the EG Temp Dipstick into his swingarm and he was at 195 F compared to my 180 F. My bike has 23,000 miles and his has just under 8,000. Does the 07' have the newer progressive fork springs? His bike turns in so much faster and easier than mine when I road it home from the dealer. It has brand new D616's and mine has a Pirelli Scorp Sync on the front and Michelin PR2 on the rear. Is it the tires, the springs, or the setup? What do you guys think? | ||

Want to adopt a 40 year old son? I think it's the suspension setup making the '07 turn in quicker. Steering geometry is the same. | ||

Only difference between the 06 and 07 was the seats, inner airbox, fork springs, airbox decals, and ECM mapping for the newer airbox. | ||

'07 has the new style progressive springs. Have you compared preload, rebound and damping settings? I had the same tire set up as you do for 11,000 miles. Wait until you put that PR2 front tire on. What a difference it makes! The PR2's profile is different than the Syncs. When I first put the new PR2 on the front I wasn't sure I liked it, it turned in too easy. For the same speed in the same corner I found myself actually pulling it back out of the turn due to it turning in so much easier. Then I figured out that means I can just go faster with less effort. That is so cool about your son. My youngest will be 19 soon, his interests are not two wheels anymore.....more like two legs.....I ride alone, unless the wife wants to ride. My oldest son rides, but 700 miles away, he got influenced by his father-in-law, leather, tatoo, chrome, Road King.  My kids suck, I'll trade you two for one! | ||

Yes, the bags interchange. Sorta. Journey bags on Outdoorsman brackets work fine, and they put the bag-to-bike latches at the back, which I like. Yes, you do need the Outdoorsman turn signal relocation kit to go with it; these brackets move the bags back on the bike. Outdoorsman bags on Journey racks...not so good. At least not if you ever plan on using the passenger footpegs. Not only do those brackets move the latches to the front, but they move the bags forward on the bike enough that you can NOT drop the passenger pegs into place once the bags are installed...nor can anyone over a size 4 shoe use them. But...the mount points / shapes are the same. To take it a step further, I have a Hepco-Becker 50L Journey topcase on my '06 now. Snapped right onto the Buell rack, and it's CAVERNOUS. Helmets (yes, plural) fit side by side, top up like you're wearing them. Huge. Love it.  The forks are identical from 06 to 07...except for the springs. The 07 got the 'better' springs, an update I'm getting ready to make at my next service. Every other piece of the forks is identical. (Message edited by ratbuell on October 10, 2009) | ||

Thanks to everyone for the nice words. My boys bike is the slower Orange variety, but even I of the faster black one think it looks pretty darn snazzy. My wife followed me home from the dealer (boy was in school) and she thought I was showing off. No, it just dropped into the corners so fast compared to mine that I could hardly believe it. Just like Etennuly, I felt like I had to hold back a bit because it was so darn easy. I guess I'll have to order a matching PR2 when the Pirelli wears out, maybe before. Crusty, Pictures will be posted as soon as I take a few. It snowed last night and that crap has got to melt off, all 3 to 4 inches of it. By the way, where do we install that Farkle you sent Sage, is it for the front brake line on the right fork? Sage says thank you very much. Will post a photo after installed. | ||

Craig, it replaces the steel strap type clamp that holds the front brake line to the lower triple clamp. I hope Sage has a lot of fun with his new ORANGE Uly | ||

Supposed to be warm, 60 F,this weekend so my son and I will take them out for a good ride and pics will be taken. Yesterday I took off both his wheels and greased and anti-seized the newer ULY's bearings. Also changed the oil to 15W50 Mobile 1. Took it for a ride and it started sleeting on me. Just the stock 07 wind screen and only a 1/2 helmet. Sleet is wicked on your face at 65 mph. My boy's bike is smoother than mine, vibration wise. Must be that I've got 23000 miles to his bike's 8000. | ||

Here's my son Sage's new 07' Uly. We just put the huge windshield on. It even has some extremely strong wings on it which you can see if you look closely. I have to admit his 07' is smoother than my 06' and the fork springs are better. The cow kitty likes the low seat especially when its warmed up.    | ||

Electroglider You can add the progressive springs to your 06, made a huge difference on mine. You'll need to change the fork oil quantity and settings to the '07 recommendations. |
