Okay, need some help from the electrical mad scientists on this site...

Hooked up the Motolight system, which is fairly straight foward, and now, regardless of whether or not the lights are on, the right turn signal blinks twice as fast when activated.

The left signal blinks at normal cadence.

I hooked the Motolight switch power lead to the rear tail light; specifically the orange/white wire that runs with a black and red/yellow wire near the junction where two quick-connects joins these wires to the yellow, black, and white wires that go directly to the tail light.

The bike is an '08XT.

I hooked my Motolights up to the rear Aux plug power wires, and never had any problems. You may want to change the power source. This would clear up your signal problem also.

I hooked my Moto Lights to the dash power outlet. It's a switched power supply and easy to tap into. All you're doing is triggering the relay. The power leads go direct to the battery. Mine work fine.

Usually, when the turn signal flashes fast, there is an excess load on that lamp. If there is a lite load on a turn signal, it flashes REALLY slow, (usually a lamp is burnt out). Check the load on the side that flashes fast, you may have to rearrange the wiring you have just added. Good luck!

Okay, thanks so far, but . . .

I initially tried to tie the power switch into the 12v rear outlet and the result was... no power...

Unfortunately I tried several wires with the scotchlock quick connect before getting power from the orange/white one, so any chance I've screwed something else up? I re-taped all the exposed wires (small cut in the casing exposing the copper strands) individually then covered them all with friction tape...

Do I need to tap into the 12v source from both wires?

No burned out bulbs. . .

The power outlet only has power when a) the ignition is on and b) the kill switch is in "run".

Get the manual if you don't have it already. It tells you everything you need to know. : )

I wired my motolight's relay behind the flyscreen of my cg to the blue wire that goes to the light switch housing.

By doing that, the motolights turn off (even when switch is on) when the starter button is depressed just like the headlights do.

It lets the starter get full voltage for starting.
