I bent my rear wheel last week and need a new wheel. I called my dealer and ask if I could install a 2010 wheel on my 08 Uley. He did not know any thing about the upgrade. I saw on one of the other post it had the part no. for the wheel washers and bolts. Can some one tell what all has to be done for the up grade? Also do you replace the axle? Could I have the part No. again?

Here is what I have for the part numbers which were listed in another thread. I haven't done this myself but was thinking of upgrading. I believe it does come with a black axle.

Part # Part Desc QTY Price

6400HB Washer 6 5.40

AA0609.11CXZB Screw - GR8 - 3/8-16X1-1/8 6 18.89

CA0005.9A7 Screw - 5/16 Brake Rotor 6 10.80

G1309.1AKYBQ Kit - Rear - Wheel - Magnesium Tone 1 302.40

Maybe someone could verify that this is the correct parts for the upgrade? I hope this helps.

I posted everything including photos and a copy of the invoice with all the parts that COME with the wheel and all the others you need in that prior post.

I ordered the 2010 rear wheel kit and when the dealer tried to move the pulley and caliper over from the old wheel the pulley would not fit over the flange on the new wheel. Dealer called Buell tech and they indicated they were aware of the no fit issue. My bike is a 2009 XB12X and came with the orange wheel bearings. I was having new tires installed at the same time so I told the dealer to go ahead an replace the orange bearings with new black seal bearings. Dealer said he did not have the bearing tool to remove and install Buell bearings? I was leaving the next week for a long trip and said forget it. I took the bike in last week and they installed the new black seals for free.

Tell us more. That is the first I have heard. Is this specific to the 2009?

It all went together fine for Reindog's wheel that we put on this past weekend. We put the new wheel on his 2006, and transferred the pulley just fine.

We have a few of the new Uly wheels in stock, ready to go. It comes without the bearings installed, but I can install them for $20 more. See http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17330.html

We also have all the bolts and washers you'll need as well, see the related items.

Al, does the 2010 rim come in black?

Look at the flange on the wheel where the belt pulley fits over. On my 2009 the pulley would not fit over the flange. On my stock 2009 wheel the pulley will spin freely on the wheel flange once the bolts are removed. I looked at it myself and it appears the flange on the 2010 wheel is maybe .010" larger. The logical fix is to take about .010" out of the inside of the pulley then all should be fine. Anyone else experienced this?

William- that seems like it'd be the easiest thing to do. OTOH odds are that your 2010 wheel wasn't machined correctly, so maybe taking 0.010" off the wheel would be better?

Although machining may solve the problem . . my question would be WHY it needed to be machined. I **think** (no clue if I am right) that they are all spec's the same size.

The 2010 wheel does not come in black.

Court- Since the 2010 ll25's and XT's come with black wheels, does that mean they didn't get the updated bearing arrangement as previously reported here?

Good question and, now that you mention that, I may be wrong. I'd forgotten about the XT.

I'll have to check and see if it shares wheels with the Uly.

Maybe you can just heat up the pulley to expand the diameter a smidgen and then it might just go together without machining. And then again, maybe it is just a burr on the edge that needs removing with a bit of emery cloth.

not to be a spoil sport,

the double bearing set up is very sensitive for placing and replacing the bearings

( i see a lot off X1 rear wheels with a similar bearing setup, with a loose outer bearing, due to bearing changes )

let some one with the right equipment press in the bearings for you, so the wheel last as long as your Uly

I always use anti-sieze to keep from scarring the aluminum. An assembly lube or grease would also work.

Hey guys - I'm starting to save my duckets for an '010 wheel upgrade on my XT, and the multiple black options is really complicating things, given that I can't seem to figure out what color my wheels are currently.

I've a 09 xt in racing red, with the original black wheels that came on it. Would these be PIRANHA black, VILLAIN black, or another black entirely?

Thanks in advance for any insight!
