I purchased a few accessories for my Buell Uly from Palmer Products in the UK.

The couple who run the business ride a Ulysses and have made a number of products for it.

One of the problems that I had with the Uly is that the position of the windscreen directed airflow directly into my face. I purchased the X with the large XT windscreen.

The Palmer brackets move the screen up and out changing the angle.

The brackets are top notch stainless including all the fasteners.

I debated whether to purchase the optional stabilizer bars and in the end did, which was a good choice. The large windshield raised with the weight of the brackets really does need the extra stability of the stabilizer bars.

So far I’ve used it in the city and I can now ride a low speeds with my visor up.

A second bonus is that the screen is now much easier to clean as theirs room between the cowl and wind screen.

I’ll try it on the highway tonight and let you all know.

I also purchased fender extensions which included the stainless hardware.

On a side note, I was supprised when I removed the cowl and discovered how much dirt and grime had entered the area where the headlight and ignition wires are kept.

Theres no seal where the cowl butts up agains the bike, water and dirt can enter.
Seems odd.

I have similar fittings. It's all good.

What do you put in that RAM mount?

They also make a baffle that bolts on the bottom W/S bolts on the inside. It helps a lot to keep rain and wind from coming under the shield.

Missin44,

I have the Palmer brackets without the braces that go to the handlebar. I am using the XT (tall) windshield. They work great at any speed. Really cuts down on the helmet buffeting without losing that "airy" feeling.

I wonder how much more added protection those fender extensions really produce.

Reading the Must-Have description at the Palmer website almost sold me till I started thinking about how a couple inch extension would actually perform. hmm, anyone else debating the benefits of the extensions?

I'll let you know, I ride a lot of dirt and the underseat is alsways caked with mud. Should be easy to see if it makes a difference. It should reduce the amount of water from the front wheel

Yeah, the extensions are debatable, but they were an inexpensive farkle.

The handlebar braces were a must for me - too much vibration in the windshield at low rpm without them.

I took the Uly on a good 400km ride today, and left the shield on the standard setting
(See pic one) I found that my helmet was much quieter and there was reduced head buffeting. There was a little sail action with a side wind as the shield is now out there. I think I'll just leave it that way its set for now.

Anyone using the other settings?

btw i noticed that the front fender mud flap directed the mud onto the chin fairing rather than above it, so thats good

I have mine set the same height but in the center lean angle, seems to work well for me. Also have memphis shade lowers, these do away with most of the updraft at speed. For me I also added Touratech handguard extensions and Aprilia mirrors. For me anyway I think its as good as its going to get without putting a BarnDoor shield on it.

Farkle, I had to look that one up.

Fancy Accessory, Really Kool, Likely Expensive.

So would the in-expensive mud flaps actually be a farkie? hehe

I run mine at the highest height position with the center angle position. The only thing I don't like about it is that in the rain my face shield loads up with water instead of blowing off....

Guys, thanks for the effort on the photos and feedback.
In case it helps, the Fender Extenders are surprisingly effective and hopefully this shot will show you how they seal off the gap between the fender and the belly-pan to prevent most of the crud being spread up the front of the bike - same with the belly-pan mudflap for the underside.

I don't think the windshield braces are really necessary unless you have an unusually large shield. When I used a 22" Parabellum, it was WAY to much sail area and got a bit 'squirrely' when passing semi's. When cut down to 16", the Palmer brackets/windshield show no signs of excessive strain, flex or buffeting, even at triple digits.
