Well I've had the R Crins RSS almost since new on my early 06 Uly. I lived in northern CA so I never really saw hot temps until I moved south to the very HOT desert.

I had removed the big RSS and re-installed the stock one before moving down here at the suggestion of the "anon" posters thinking all would be fine. NOT!!!

At sustained highway speeds in the desert at temps above 100 I would get the skip-spark mode going consistantly if I stood up and made the bike work hard against my wind resistance. I found this would happen very consistantly.

I re-installed the big RSS and now the bike can work hard under the same conditions and does not get hot enough to do the skip-spark mode.

No more proof needed for me. The thing works and its staying on there!

I have performed the same test and will not be taking mine off. It took Buell 3 years to catch up with the reports from the field on this one.

They should offer them for free to those that need them. Same goes for rear wheel bearings. If you have ever been stranded in the middle of nowhere (Alaska) without cell signal you would feel the same.

The early speculation regarding the effectiveness of the Crins' BAS (big air scoop) swirled around the belief that the extra air was only cooling the head temp sensor.
I did some crude temp measurements with the stock scoop and the Crins' B.A.S which concluded that the rear head actually ran hotter.
But the fan did not run when the bike was in motion.

I do believe that fuel boiling could be an issue, with the Crins'B.A.S. But I have not read about it occurring here on B.W.

Teeps how about repeating your test with your new Comfort Kit RSS? Might be interesting.

Teeps, how did you conclude that the rear head ran hotter with the BAS? The head temp sensor element is screwed into the rear head. I don't see your coorelation. How were you measuring temps?

All I know at this point is I have data logged without the BAS and the head temps were over 500 degrees until I backed off and let it cool down some then upon speeding up again the temps climbed again consistantly.

I guess I need to do another data logging run with the BAS installed to confirm the lower temps.
