I need to dim it down.
Ideas?

I was thinking of perhaps a black magic marker.

Anyone else have this issue?

They automatically dim in low light.
Mine does too as I see that it's crazy insane bright when it's exposed to bright light.

It just doesn't dim enough.

Tape over the sensor for low night with black tape. That will reduce the brightness and stop "flicking" between day and night mode.

Tape over the sensor for low night with black tape.

I think that will do the opposite of what he wants and keep it bright always.

Mine is mounted on the brake reservoir which keeps it in my view but doesn't stare me in the face, although it's harder to view in bright sunlight.

Black marker might work and I'd try it on a piece of clear tape first before the unit itself.

Be careful with those, mine fell apart as I was pressing it to the reservoir, had to glue it back together but it's held up fine for two years.

I have mine on my Garmin bracket on the Uly, right side switch housing. Not in the line of sight, so I left it alone. Doesn't bother me, day or night. Maybe the Garmin screen above helps wash it out some...but whatever, it's working LOL.

On my S2, it's mounted to the fairing stay immediately in front of the gauges. I put a piece of scotch tape on it, and made a swipe with a black marker to "tint" the LED window some. I left the light sensor alone.

The way they work - if the sensor sees light, it makes the display bright so it doesn't wash out. If it sees darkness, it 'dims' the display so it doesn't overpower the viewer.

I agree. They should make it dim more.

Small peace windshield of windshield tint. I bought a pack of the small tint sun blocks so I have a live time supply for my visor.

Oops... I'm the one who had it backwards...

I've got one of these units mounted to my upper triple clamp just in front of the handlebar clamps. It's visible, but the light is directed straight up, so isn't too bad as far as being too bright. Also made wiring very simple as it just goes under the instrument panel and into a hot line in the harness.

Henriks S2 voltmeter was bright enough that it was distracting me... when I was riding a different bike 3 seconds behind him!

I soldered mine to the back of my "lighter" connector. I stuck it to the top of the dash.

I will try the tape + marker thing first I think.

Had the same issue with mine used a drop of black paint over the sensor. Kept it in dim mode all the time. This is before dim.

I put a small piece of electrical tape over the sensor. I never have a problem seeing the readout even in full sun. It is super bright without the sensor taped. I have mine mounted similar to the above photo.

I use the electrical tape trick and added Sprintex' mod last night.
