So every time I am slowing down as when coming to a stop light or entering a slow speed turn the motor has started to cough if/when I hit the accelerator. It is not the best feeling when you are trying to accelerate through a corner and you lose all power. It only happens when at low RMP and is worse when the engine is cold. I have an 08 with 10K miles on it and the problem has just started. What else should I check in addition to the Idle Air Controler?

Have you performed a TPS reset lately?

i thought an ECM on a 80/09 bike with DDFI-3 did not need the reset, what are the steps to reset again?

IGN on.
Kill on.
Open throttle fully,hold 1 sec.
Manually roll throttle off,Hold 1 sec.
REPEAT for 3 full cycles.
Turn ign off for at least 10 sec.

is that right?
doesn't the sputter and cough when hitting the throttle at only low rpm's point to something else, if it was the tps wouldn't it happen more often????

Before doing a TPS reset I have found that two out of three(in my case) have required a little cleaning of the throttle plate. Resetting the TPS with a dirty throttle plate can actually make it run worse than before the reset.

Also check to see if there is a cover/plug on the vacuum stand pipe on the right side of the throttle body. I have found that the ones that are capped can loose that plug cap after a few backfires. I have been doing '06's though, these hints may not count on '08's.
