Dave, Used the alaska pad prior to picking up a used russell day-long seat. PM me if you would like to give it a test ride prior to buying one. FYI: I ride in a full aerostich suit so no swamp ass ever touched it. Tim |

I use the redneck version of the beadrider. I went to Walmart and bought a beaded seat for a car, cut it in half and made two. Use it on long rides and during the summer. Great at keeping your butt from sweating. |

I've got both. they are great. sheepskin in winter keeps you warmer. Beads in summer are great for ac on your ass. They're slippery though.. |

I have a large Alaska Leathers pad from my cruiser that fits the my XT perfectly. I was able to take two multi-day rides over the summer, one with the sheepskin and the other without so that I could get a "feel" for the pad's effectiveness on the Uly. Both rides were a mix of superslab and twisties, and both were in 90+ degree weather. My verdict? The sheepskin makes no noticeable difference on the first day, and not much on the second. As the days go by, though, the pad increasingly becomes a very nice accessory. You really appreciate it the most after lunch when your bike has been sitting in the blazing sun for a while. It's the difference between scorching your behind and having a nice soft perch on which to enjoy the afternoon. |

I used the Alaska leathers pad on a recent 1800 mile trip. 5 days at about 7-10 hours a day. NO MONKEY BUTT. I did use spandex shorts too. I can tell you that the combo works. The last two trips at 1500-1600 miles gave me bad monkey butt each trip. So, if you use the sheepskin and/or bike shorts, you should be good. |

Have any of you guys put the comfort kit on? It does work. My seat was cooler than ever on a 100 miles in the hot sun ride today. Very impressive. |

I make a annual trip from Arkansas to NE Ohio that runs 850-900 miles one way depending on route. I usually end up making it all in one day coming home. The Alaska Leather skin makes the last 300-400 miles a lot more comfortable. I think it's well worth the price. I'll be getting one for my XT before next summer. I've got two Alaska pads; one for front and rear. Only downside I've seen was at March Badness last year. ~4 hours of riding in rain; it took 3 days to dry out! |

I have the beads. I really liked it at first, but for some reason as time went on my love for the beads waned. I took them off and haven't put them back on since. It did make my seat (can't speak for the bike's) cooler riding in the heat. Kind of like a seat a/c unit. |

I have had both and had some success with both, but found the best results came from a Airhawk Medium Cruiser seat with just a bit of air in it. I also would recommend the Spencer seat mods out of Florida. Not a Russell but did slow down the burn. |
