Was wanting to upgrade the bulb on my bike any ideas? Also don't want to sound too stupid but how does the bulb come out? Owners manual says how to adjust it but not how to remove it. Unless I missed it, 13 HR. day today I'm a little shot! | ||

Osram H7 65 watt bulbs are a H9 bulb soldered to a H7 base. Best low cost upgrade you can do. (Message edited by tootal on September 14, 2009) | ||

Sylvania 4100 Bright White H3 bulbs. You have to take the light assembly off the bike and it's an easy change out after removing the fly screen & pulling the rubber caps. Plug & play. Best light I've ever had for the money. | ||

Silverstar H7 bulbs, PIAA H7 bulbs, they are both good upgrades, but for a few bucks more you can get a HID headlight setup which makes normal headlights look like those cheap key chain flash lights. (Message edited by froggy on September 10, 2009) | ||

The H3 base is the same as an H7? How do you get it to work? Our headlights take an H7 bulb. I tried Silverstar H7's but they burned out in a very short time! | ||

You're right, they are H7's. In any case, I'm using the Sylvania 4100's. Burned one out right away, but I think it's because I didn't have it seated properly and it didn't like life off road. Great light, just hope it lasts. Bulb life on it seems to have a bad reputation. | ||

Itileman, I got the standard kit with 6000K lamps for the headlights and with 3000K lamps for the driving lights. If I were doing it again I would get the slimline digital ballasts and use 4300-5000K for the headlights (better visible light than the 6000K). I ordered from a link to the standard ballast units and didn't know they sold the digital ballasts. getting three standard ballasts behind the flyscreen was a trick.... | ||

I got pulled over by an over zealous cop on the way home from work the other night.....wanted to know if I "dimmed my high beams when I passed him or is that a bright light"? Duh. | ||

My low beam recently burned out and I replaced it with the PIAA 55W Bright White H7. It's no HID, but it is an improvement over stock. | ||

Ok guys and gals once again I need to rely on your knowledge and experience. I recently bought a new 2008 XT. Ran great for the first 700 miles or so. Now during cold starts 6 out 10 times it starts up, runs for 1-2 seconds and then shuts off. I try again and bam its on and working fine. Never an issue during warm starts. What gives? | ||

Rwven It looks like one slim kit will give you two bulbs (high beam and low). Any need for a relay? $60 seems reasonable. Any issues? Thanks!! | ||

Just installed an HID kit for my high beam. I mean that's why they call it your "Bright Lites" isn't it? I used a relay, so not to have to worry about smokin' the crappy Buell wiring! Now I have two different systems so I don't have to worry about total failure of all my lighting while on the road somewhere. And for my "dims", I'm buying cheap Chinese Halogen 55w 6000K bulbs. That way I won't feel screwed, like when the expense Sylvanias and PIAAs I tried went out after 3 months!!! | ||

AZdaniel, I'm running one on my low beam on the "citylight" circuit. No issues at all. Well, one issue, I can hardly see a difference when I put my high beam on.... I didn't get the slim ballasts, but I am going to order some and move the "fat" ones to my car... |
