I bought my Uly as a left over demo with 800 miles on it last September. I noticed an oil leak right away but I thought it was just overfilled. I pinpointed the leak to the oil pump but finally gave up and took it to the dealer. They have had it for five weeks having first replaced the oil pump gasket (I already tried that) then they noticed a bad spot in the engine case and order a new case. A week after they received the new case they still couldn't tell me when it would be done so I stopped by today to check on it and they showed me there was another bad spot on the new case (the speed sensor mounting area)! Is this common? They are waiting for advise from Buell. Should I be pushing for a new engine? I only have 2700 miles on this bike because of the oil leak. I hate the thought of a rebuilt engine in what is a new bike for me.

Five weeks?!?!?! And to think I was getting hot at the two week mark.

I just picked mine up from the dealer on Thursday after they replaced all the gaskets on the top end. So far no leaks have reappeared, and it is running okay after my 1000 mile shakedown cruise this weekend. I keep looking for more oil in bad places, but haven't found any yet.

Pkman, when I got my 07 Uly,it had a leak all the time under the primary chain adjuster bolt, when it got hot, what it turned out to be was when the case was cast in the foundry,a small air bubble had formed right beside the hole for the bolt and when the hole was tapped for the thread,it exposed the hole approx 1mm in diameter and when it got hot the hole would open up a little more as well as being partly obscured by the adjuster nut as well.
may be something worth looking at for small imperfections.
Cheers Phil

It's under pressure there so a really small leak would really show up right away.
I would start asking for a new engine.
Remind them that you are paying for the bike and not able to ride it.
Perhaps they will feel more pressure to fix you and your bike.

The new leak looks like what Aussiexbox described. I haven't been able to find a customer service number to call Buell and the owners manual link on their website doesn't work. It seems like the dealer is doing what they can, but they are not getting parts and approval very quickly from the factory.
I had to cancel my plans to go to the ADV rally in Wisconsin this weekend.
